美國，馬里蘭州 (Maryland)－美國馬里蘭州大學的電子／鋰離子測試實驗室CALCE針對鋰離子電池進行了一項研究及實際測試。其證實，透過減少充／放電水平，電動自行車電池要保固8年是可行的。為此，一款通用的「電池省電器」(Battery Saver)正在開發中。
