MÜHLTAL, Germany - E-bike and cargobike manufacturer Riese & Müller, has published its third Responsibility Report. It documents the company's development and progress in the 2021/2022 financial year in terms of waste management, CO2 emissions and its transparent supply chain. A positive carbon footprint while increasing production output, is a key takeaway.

HEERENVEEN, the Netherlands - After almost six years in the lead at bicycle manufacturer Accell Group, Ton Anbeek has stepped down as CEO. While a successor is being found, Juan de Ochoa, a partner at investment firm and co-owner of KKR, the new owner of Accell Group, will step in as interim chairman of the board of directors.

AMSTERDAM, The Netherlands - 2022 was a historic year for Pon Holdings with sales exceeding €10 billion for the first time in the company's history. The bicycle cluster, Pon.Bike contributed significantly to this following the acquisition of Dorel Sports and the ever-increasing demand for e-bikes. CEO Janus Smalbraak also states that order books are currently full.
Subscribers onlyWASHINGTON, US - Imports continue to dominate the US bike market, with China being the largest source of imported bikes. Although the import market share rose slightly last year, the actual number of imported units dropped 33% last year as American consumers cut back on spending. Although not yet meeting their potential, e-bikes are increasing their presence on the market.

KOBLENZ, Germany - To develop a more sustainable titanium supply chain through the production of bicycle components, Canyon Bicycles is collaborating with a US-based developer of 100% recycled and low carbon titanium. IperionX has agreed upon an initial project to prototype Canyon bicycle parts, including for bicycle frames, via additive manufacturing methods.

GENNEVILLIERS, France - Upway a platform dedicated to the reconditioning and resale of e-bikes is growing its presence in Europe. Through additional funding, Upway is entering new markets with "the mission to provide as many people as possible the opportunity to buy second-hand electric bikes". The company is now active in France, Germany, Belgium and the Netherlands.

SUZHOU, China - At this year's Taipei cycle show, Chinese battery manufacturer, Phylion took the opportunity to show its new self-developed flagship battery cell models, the Golden Brick Version 30110 and 19118 Battery Cells, and the first generation of its weather resistant Sodium-ion battery cell. The manufacturer predicts this could bring in a new era for e-bike batteries.

GEDERSDORF, Austria - The KSR Group launched its Malaguti e-bikes three years ago. On the back of a successful launch the brand is now expanding its product range and streamlining its distribution network across European territories.

DENVER, US - Niner Bikes founder Chris Sugai has joined carbon belt manufacturer Gates as general manager of Gates Global Mobility. The bike industry pioneer with nearly two decades of bike industry leadership experience will drive efforts to expand Gates Carbon Drive offerings and bring belt drive solutions to bikes, electric mobility, and powersports.

CAMBRIDGE, UK - Zedify, an electric cargo bike delivery network in the UK, has secured a £5 million (€5.7 mln) investment to expand its low carbon service. The funding will be used to expand its operations making it available to around 20% of the UK population. Developing an own vehicle in-house is also on the cards.
