BRUSSELS, Belgium - Bike Republic, Colruyt Group's chain of bike shops, is planting its flag in Brussels for the first time following the take-over of the large bicycle retailer, IMP Bike. The acquisition puts Colruyt Group on course for further expansion in the French speaking part of Belgium.
PHNOM PENH, Cambodia - Cambodia earned $505 million (€505 million) from bicycle exports in the first six months of this year, the country's Ministry of Commerce has announced. This is a 104% increase compared to last year. Besides high demand, a new investment law and influential trade rulings are cited as reasons for the growth.
FRANKFURT, Germany - Taiwanese saddle manufacturer, DDK, has around 150 saddles in its range. The newest addition is the Mini-Ma. On display at this years' Eurobike, the company has taken a 'less is more' approach with its latest product.
FREEHOLD, NJ, US - The US-based electric vehicle technology company, Cenntro Electric Group Limited, has acquired a minority stake of 25% in Antric GmbH, a German-based e-cargo designer. Through the seven-figure investment Cenntro will support manufacturing the company's Antric One e-cargo bike in Germany and market the product globally.
SUZHOU, China - After two years and a capital investment of more than ¥10 million (€1.44 million), Bafang has completed the building of an Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) laboratory, becoming one of the few companies in the global electric system industry to own such a facility. The e-bike drive system manufacturer says that the new facility "will substantially and positively impact Bafang's product development, driving up quality and efficiency while reducing costs".
LONDON, England - Two Chinese e-bike manufacturers who are new to the UK market should be allowed to move to a lower import tariff rate - this has been proposed by the Trade Remedies Authority (TRA), a body of the UK governments' Department for International Trade. With e-bike sales on the rise in the UK, "the change in tariff rate would help meet demand in this growing market," the TRA said in a statement.
DRESDEN, Germany - E-commerce specialist, BIKE24, reports that it has "solidly navigated the first half of 2022" with full-bike sales up by 12% despite a challenging environment. The German retailer's internationalisation strategy is also paying off with substantial revenue increases in localised markets Spain, France and Italy and new European markets are on the cards.
SUZHOU, China - Seekrun designs a wide range of display products with varying screen types, sizes and accessories which can be customised. During Eurobike, the company's newest model, the A1 hub drew the most attention.
HANGZHOU, China - HMI display manufacturer Velofox, presented the newest releases from its DM Series during Eurobike in July. With a range of 10 models varying in size and offering colour or high contrast black and white displays, the company offers a solution for all biking categories from e-cargo to e-road.
SUZHOU, China - Following the launch of the CMT03 a couple of years ago, e-bike motor manufacturer, Shengyi was back at Eurobike this year with 2 new additions, CMT07 and CMT03P.
