    Spain's bicycle production rebounds after 2022 dip

    MADRID, Spain - The added value of the output of Spain's bicycle industry is catching up rapidly. According to the Ministry of Industry, Tourism and Commerce the value of bicycles manufactured in April in Spain rose by 37.8% year-on-year, reaching a total value of €23.3 million.

    Despite stable revenue Ideal Bike reports Q1 losses

    TAICHUNG, Taiwan - In its first sales quarter of 2023 Taiwan's third-largest bicycle producer Ideal Bike Corporation brought in total sales of TWD 1.11 billion (€33.46 million). This is a slight decrease of 1.8%, compared to the first three months of last year. However, losses were also incurred on these sales.

    In my previous blog post, I mentioned that I was in ongoing discussions with the EU Commission about the snag that I found in the new EU General Product Safety Regulation (GPSR). At the time of writing, I am still awaiting a response from the unit responsible for the automotive industry.     Merida reports stable Q1 sales but profit almost halves

    DACUN TOWNSHIP, Taiwan - In this year's first sales quarter Taiwan's second-largest bicycle manufacturer Merida Industry Co. Ltd. brought in total consolidated sales of TWD 8.39 billion (€252.93 million), a slight 2.8% increase compared to 2022.

    Bicycle parts innovator Bernhard Rohloff passes away aged 73

    FULDATAL, Germany - The founder of Rohloff GmbH and developer of the 'Rohloff S-L-T 99' derailleur bicycle chain and the Speedhub 14-speed IHG, Bernhard Rohloff, has died aged 73. It was thanks to his technical innovations that gearbox equipped bicycles were able to establish themselves in the field of sporting use.
