MADRID, Spain - The added value of the output of Spain's bicycle industry is catching up rapidly. According to the Ministry of Industry, Tourism and Commerce the value of bicycles manufactured in April in Spain rose by 37.8% year-on-year, reaching a total value of €23.3 million.

TAICHUNG, Taiwan - In its first sales quarter of 2023 Taiwan's third-largest bicycle producer Ideal Bike Corporation brought in total sales of TWD 1.11 billion (€33.46 million). This is a slight decrease of 1.8%, compared to the first three months of last year. However, losses were also incurred on these sales.

In my previous blog post, I mentioned that I was in ongoing discussions with the EU Commission about the snag that I found in the new EU General Product Safety Regulation (GPSR). At the time of writing, I am still awaiting a response from the unit responsible for the automotive industry. I can understand that they might need some time to grasp the potential implications of the snag. Coincidentally, I am currently assisting an automotive client in developing a recall procedure.

It was thanks to his technical innovations that gearbox equipped bicycles were able to establish themselves in the field of sporting use.

There's been a dramatic and remarkable shift in who is riding e-bikes, what they're using them for, and the ride-feel they want. The market nowadays is less about components, and more about the electrification systems that define your e-bike brand. And not all systems are equal.

In early 2020, German wholesaler Sport Import announced plans for a move into Europe by setting up its own sales force for Belgium and the Netherlands. Just three and a half years later, Sport Import has become a European company.
