    Late Eurobike show shifts focus to OEM, parts and components

    FRIEDRICHSHAFEN, Germany - Eurobike 2020, with its later 24-26 November date re-scheduled due to Corona is adjusting its concept.     WBIA joins WHO's sustainable transport taskforce

    Voi gets set to capitalise on changes to UK e-scooter laws

    STOCKHOLM, Sweden - E-scooter rental company, Voi, is preparing itself for launch in the UK market this summer when e-scooters become legal. Current legislation in the UK allows people to buy an e-scooter but you can't ride it on a public road, cycle lane or pavement. Voi has now hired the tech company executive who was responsible for leading efforts with the UK government to legalise e-scooters to lead its growth in the UK, Ireland and Benelux countries.

    Giant starts production at Hungarian factory as European sales rise

    TAIPEI, Taiwan - Taiwanese bicycle manufacturers are reporting a rebound in sales in overseas markets since some countries began easing their COVID-19 lockdown measures. Giant and Merida have both announced increased sales, with the former announcing that the long-awaited plant in Hungary will soon open to help meet demand.

    Mavic's future remains uncertain

    ANNECY, France - Mavic's future remains uncertain after it was put in receivership on 2 May 2020 by the Commercial Court of Grenoble. Currently, the process is handled by Thevenot Partners and AJUP. Some projects have already been submitted but the one led by the French business lawyer Didier Poulmaire stands out.

    Raja Cycle pushes own brand alongside OEM-business

    SAMUT PRAKAN, Thailand - Bicycle manufacturer Raja Cycle Co., Ltd. is located in Thailand's second largest city, Samut Prakan, 35 kilometres southeast of Bangkok. Next to its export business, which mostly rolls towards Europe, the Thai assembler is using its capacity also for its own Optima and Meadow brands. Up to now Optima and Meadow are only offered on the company's home and neighbouring ASEAN markets.

    Dutch e-bike pioneer Peter Ariese passes away

    BUSSUM, the Netherlands - Dutch bicycle developer, Peter Ariese, has unexpectedly passed away in his residence in Bussum, Netherlands on May 25th 2020. During the last three decades Peter held various positions in the bike industry. He was considered to be the founding father of the electric SpartaMet. Having started the design and development of electric bicycles at Sparta, a pioneer of the European e-bike market, he stood at the cradle of today's new E-bike landscape.

    IBDs reach two-digit sales increase in post-lockdown Germany

    WIESBADEN, Germany - On the occasion of the World Bicycle Day on 3rd June, the German Federal Office for Statistics (Destatis) announced some interesting national retail data, including bicycle retail sales figures. Destatis compared March 2020 with April 2020 sales. In comparison with other retail sectors IBDs are definitely on the sunny side of life.

    Budget e-bike brakes fail in Dutch test

    THE HAGUE, the Netherlands - In a budget e-bike test of the Royal Dutch Touring Club (ANWB) in the Netherlands, the brakes turned out to be the weakest part of the e-bikes. Eight out of ten tested e-bikes did not meet the required braking performance. It was the main reason for the ANWB to recommend only four out of ten tested e-bikes.

    Messe Friedrichshafen延後Aseanbike至2021年
