    Trek owned Diamant expands into neighbouring country markets

    HARTMANNSDORF, Germany - German bicycle manufacturer Diamant Fahrradwerke GmbH has concentrated on the German-speaking country market since its takeover by Trek Bicycle Corporation (aka Trek Group) in 2002. This year, celebrating its 140th anniversary, the East-German brand is also burgeoning in Benelux, the United Kingdom, Ireland and Poland.

    Subscribers only Swiss sales slump as total bicycle market drops 14%

    AARAU, Switzerland - In 2024, the bicycle industry in Switzerland was in a far deeper trough than in Germany or The Netherlands. Total sales fell by 54,000 units - a drop of 14%. It is worth noting that sales of e-bikes are still in the shadows of regular bicycles as market share remains locked in at around 45% for the past three years.

    AMSTERDAM, the Netherlands - Pon Holdings has made significant strides in 2024 towards enhancing its focus on mobility through strategic investments and divestments. Despite market uncertainties, Pon Holdings recorded stable revenues of €9.9 billion, matching the prior year's results normalised for divestments.

    Uncertainty of US tariffs to unsettle global bicycle trade

    WASHINGTON DC, United States - Newly announced reciprocal tariffs by the Trump administration in the US has brought a renewed level of uncertainty to the bicycle industry supply chain. The proposed tariffs mean all bicycles entering the country will face some level of tariffs unless the frame itself has been manufactured in the US. The expected result is rising costs for importers on which the market relies and a stagnating retail market as US consumers face higher prices for a new bike.

    Decathlon Germany reports significant increase in bicycle sales

    PLOCHINGEN, Germany - Demand for bicycle and team sports products within the extensive product portfolio of Decathlon has been very strong in Germany last year, reports the sporting goods retail giant. Decathlon expanded their market share in the otherwise weak German bicycle market in 2024 and reported a sales increase of 8% in the category bicycles. However, exact sales figures have not been disclosed.

Founded in 2015, Blubrake subsequently introduced its anti-lock braking system (ABS) technology in 2018. With its next generation ABS, the company contributes to enhance braking performance, improve rider safety, and differentiate their products in an increasingly competitive market.

    Yamaha eyes European growth through Brose e-bike business acquisition

    BERLIN, Germany - Yamaha Motor has signed an agreement with German automotive parts manufacturer, Brose to acquire its bicycle drive unit (eKit) business subsidiary. This strategic step includes establishing a new company, Yamaha Motor eBike Systems GmbH to expand the business in Europe. The formalisation of the operation is scheduled to be completed by June 2025, subject to approval by the antitrust authorities.
