    Trek closes Italian subsidiary and reorganises Southern European organisation

    BERGAMO, Italy - Trek has closed its Italian subsidiary and incorporated this market within the newly formed Trek South Europe. In a short press release, the American company announced the creation of its fifth major European subsidiary, following GAS (Germany, Austria and Switzerland), BLX (the Netherlands, Belgium, Luxemburg), Nordics and UK+.

    Subscribers only Belgian bicycle market drops 18% in 2023

    BRUSSELS, Belgium - In Belgium, over 18% fewer bicycles were sold in 2023. Sales decreased from nearly 700,000 to 569,605 units, according to figures shared jointly by Traxio and GfK. However, there are no concerns for the longer term. The e-bike is expected to be the cornerstone of the Belgian market, with specialist retailers playing an essential role in sales.

    Spanish production figures showing small sign of market turnaround? 

    MADRID, Spain - Bicycle production in Spain saw a 6.8% year-on-year decrease in production in February, after registering a 10.5% decrease in the first month of the year, according to data from the Ministry of Industry Trade and Tourism. Despite these decreases, the units produced represent the highest monthly figures since June 2023 indicating a potential sign of a turnaround in the market.
