As part of a share deal with Asian Tri Star Inc. (Tri Star Group) on 12 February, the lifting of the insolvency proceedings paved the road for a restart of the more than 100-year-old traditional company, Sprick. It has been a long and tough ride for the responsible insolvency administrator, Axell Geese from Streitbörger PartgmbB. Since the traditional German bicycle producer Sprick Fahrräder GmbH filed for insolvency at the end of 2024, Geese has been searching for someone to revive the long-established bicycle manufacturer.

Sushi Mobility GmbH, the once-bankrupt e-bike start-up, has been rescued from insolvency. With its latest investment, Wealth Collect Holding GmbH (WCH) hopes to breathe new life into Sushi Mobility, which slipped into insolvency on 14 November 2025. No details of the purchase price have been disclosed.

Donkey Republic's latest financing round demonstrates that investors have not lost interest in bicycles and cycling more broadly. Private equity and other investors turned away from the bicycle industry after the troubles at Accell Group, Rad Power, VanMoof, Scott Sports and many others. Donkey Republic proves the opposite. They initially set out to raise DKK 15-30 million (€2-4 million), but due to strong interest, the transaction was over-subscribed and the amount raised was upsized to DKK 75 million (€10 million).

This year, multi-sports chain store retailer and manufacturer Decathlon is continuing its expansion in Germany. Following the grand opening of its hundredth store in Nuremberg last November, Decathlon-Germany has announced its goal to operate at least 150 stores by 2027.

One of the world's largest automotive suppliers ZF, marked its entry into the e-bike business with a debut at Eurobike in 2018. Specialising in tailor-made open drive systems, the German manufacturers aimed to become a serious competitor to Bosch. However, this has not materialised, leading to a doubtful future. "We have suspended our sales activities in this area," a spokesperson has confirmed to Bike Europe.

The topic of cooperation between Eurobike and the German industry bodies ZIV and Zukunft Fahrrad is back on the table again. At the fringe of the European Cycling Industries (ECI) launch reception in Brussels this week, the new CEO of Fairnamic, ZIV, and Zukunft Fahrrad discussed a relaunch of Eurobike in 2027 and the potential cooperation with the German associations and the ECI, as well as the role of Eurobike in 2026. This was reported by Eurobike.

Japanese component manufacturer, Shimano, has decided to shift its tradeshow focus and withdraw from Eurobike starting in 2026. "This decision reflects our focus on creating direct, meaningful engagement with our partners, customers, and riders," the company writes in a statement.

New financial milestones surpassed for German online shop operator The Platform Group (TPG) in 2025. The software company specialising in platform solutions has presented its preliminary unaudited figures for the 2025 fiscal year. According to the company, in both sales and earnings, it has had its most successful fiscal year in its history.

E-bikes powered exclusively by a generator are considered technically innovative, but until now, they have been difficult to classify legally. This is going to change with the publication of the German standard DIN 31067. Though limited to Germany only, it may apply elsewhere in the EU if adopted or referenced.

Decathlon Pulse, the investment arm of the French retail giant Decathlon, is increasing its investment in existing strategic partner, Rebike Mobility GmbH. By expanding the partnership to become a majority stakeholder, the companies have reaffirmed their long-term commitment to "promoting the circular economy in the bicycle industry and supporting the professionalisation of the European secondary market for e-bikes."

TACHERTING, Germany - An investor has secured the future of bicycle component brand Syntace and the off-road bicycle brand Liteville. The new entity, SL International, has acquired all assets of both entities and was given a temporary helping hand from a well-known German industry participant for the acquisition. No details were provided on the purchase price.

FRANKFURT, Germany - Having been in the hands of Brockhaus Technologies AG for the last four years, Bikeleasing Service GmbH has been sold to the investment arm of French retail giant Decathlon. With this step, BLS is looking to create a strong basis for further growth as well as the targeted international expansion of its successful company bike leasing model. Having tripled revenues under Brockhaus ownership, the purchase agreement provides for an enterprise valuation of Bikeleasing of €525 million according to Brockhaus.

ZEIST, The Netherlands - It became apparent within the first few months of the year that 2025 would not be the turnaround year the bicycle industry needed. A muted Taipei Cycle show made clear that the supply chain was nowhere near back to being in full swing, and despite reasonable spring sales, the European market retracted again in the summer. Business-wise, there were reports of insolvencies, closures and redundancies. Knocks came from all sides: tariffs, human rights accusations, and very public non-alignment within the industry itself on several topics. However, pockets of innovation and newcomers managed to shine through, reminding the industry that its products are well-positioned for the long term. BAD HOMBURG, Germany - Existing minority shareholder, SKion GmbH has acquired "two significant business units" from the BMZ Group. BMZ Holding GmbH and BMZ Germany GmbH faced uncertainty when a sudden disruption in the customer base and subsequent legal proceedings led to an immediate financial challenge for the lithium-ion battery manufacturer. The acquisition is subject to approval by the antitrust authorities.

MUNICH, Germany - Following the successful launch of the trade-in portal in e-bike refurbisher Rebike Mobility GmbH's own flagship stores in Frankfurt and Munich, the onboarding of other major IBDs is now beginning. While the nationwide rollout is in preparation, an international scaling is already in the pipeline.

FRANKFURT, Germany - The dissatisfaction within the industry about the recent edition of Eurobike and the German industry association's decision to pull out, has prompted the show to change its leadership. Long-serving show manager Stefan Reisinger is making an exit, and will support the new management during a transitional phase. Will this change mark a turnaround from the industry organisations? "It makes sense that the Eurobike will be completely revised by 2027, and negotiations could begin at the beginning of next year, provided that the necessary conditions are met," confirms Burkhard Stork, managing director of ZIV.

NÜRTINGEN, Germany — Bosch eBike Systems has acquired Magura's 50% stake in Magura Bosch Parks & Services GmbH (MBPS), taking full control of one of Europe's largest bicycle and e-bike service and spare parts distributors. Formerly equal service partners since the launch of Bosch's e-bike brand, the partners have not made it clear what prompted the buyout.
