AMSTERDAM, the Netherlands - Yamaha unveiled its new PW-Link e-bike system at this year's Eurobike. The Japanese manufacturer made all its e-drive components interchangeable and fully connected, allowing e-bike manufacturers to specify the same frame with multiple PW-Link combinations and offer a greater variety of e-bike options to consumers. To support further internationalisation and entry into other non-electric categories, the French manufacturer is rebranding to UTO. Under the code-name Calypso, a complex scheme was exposed which led to raids across several EU member states. The total damage of the activities under investigation is estimated at approximately €700 million, although it is unclear how much of this is directly attributed to e-bike fraud.
