ZEIST, the Netherlands - Bicycle rental systems and subscription-based models, like Swapfiets, represent a cycling mobility trend that opened the market for more existing and new cyclists. Until recently, only the number of bicycles out in the streets and the number of users were available. For the first time, the social and economic impact of the trend has also been quantified in two separate market studies by the consultancy Ernst & Young (EY) and the German industry organisation Zukunft Fahrrad.

Online bicycle retailer Bike24 is raising its financial outlook for its current third quarter, and for the entire financial year. The Dresden-based company expects the positive trend from the first half of the year to continue.

BRUSSELS, Belgium - In an open letter, European manufacturers, logistics companies, and cycling logistics operators have urged the European Commission to maintain the existing legal framework under EU Regulation 168/2013, including its application to cargo bikes. "Recent proposals by the German industry organisation ZIV to cap assistance ratios, peak power and vehicle weight would undermine real-world usability," the letter stated.

MUNICH, Germany - Sushi Bikes caused a sensation in 2019 when it whizzed onto the market with a direct-to-consumer business model and cool e-city bikes at affordable retail prices from €1,000. The initial success has now faded away, and Sushi Bikes joins the line of German companies that could not make it to the end of 2025.

The country's existing show, CFOSE which has been established over 14 editions appears to be making way for a new 'government-backed' event on India's bicycle event calendar.

SCHWEINFURT, Germany - Following a brief take-over by Austria's Pierer New Mobility, R Raymon Bicycles will now continue its journey as a 100% independently owned company under the guidance of founders Susanne and Felix Puello. Since 6 March a new chapter begins for the German bike brand. The financial details of the deal have not been disclosed by either party.

GIRONA, Spain - Tech start-up Niche Mobility has secured €1.6 million in funding to power the next development stages of its patented ADTS electric motor for e-bikes. In March, the Spanish company closed its successful investment round, led by strategic partner Copreci and supported by the Mondragon Promotion Fund and regional investors.
