AMSTERDAM, The Netherlands - The Dutch Light Electric Vehicles (LEV) framework has been postponed once more, according to the RAI Association, the professional organization for (e-)bike manufacturers in the Netherlands. Initially set to take effect on January 1, 2025, the framework is now delayed until July 2025. Implementation of the new framework will have implications for amongst others, e-cargobike users in the country.

BERLIN, Germany - In 2024, the German Federal Forest Act is to be comprehensively reformed after around 50 years. According to industry stakeholders, it could "significantly restrict freedom of movement in the forest". In that case the (e-)MTB market might face a serious decline as mountain biking could lose its appeal.

STOCKHOLM, Sweden - E-scooter rental company, Voi, is preparing itself for launch in the UK market this summer when e-scooters become legal. Current legislation in the UK allows people to buy an e-scooter but you can't ride it on a public road, cycle lane or pavement. Voi has now hired the tech company executive who was responsible for leading efforts with the UK government to legalise e-scooters to lead its growth in the UK, Ireland and Benelux countries.

WASHINGTON, US - Imports continue to dominate the US bike market, with China being the largest source of imported bikes. Although the import market share rose slightly last year, the actual number of imported units dropped 33% last year as American consumers cut back on spending. Although not yet meeting their potential, e-bikes are increasing their presence on the market.
