PARIS, France - The electric scooter market in France is continuing its downward spiral. According to the eighth edition of the Micromobility Market Barometer, co-published by Mobilians and Smart Mobility Lab, 2024 marks the third consecutive year of decline for motorised personal mobility devices (EDPMs), a segment overwhelmingly dominated by electric scooters.

SCHRAMBERG, Germany - Even though the weakening economy and the ongoing destocking in the 2024 financial year hurt the turnover and earnings of stock-listed high-precision gear parts and components manufacturer hGears AG, the company says the cost and structural measures introduced are having the desired effect. These have also prepared the company for another difficult year.

TAIPEI, Taiwan - Taiwan's bicycle industry is changing its face. Finally, after years of decline in volume and value, more money is again coming in.

It is foremost about stability and reliability; about securing supply chains as well as being more cost effective, faster and more flexible. All that comes with close-to-market production; with production in Europe. And in particular with e-bike production. But making the switch to producing electric bicycles requires considerable investments. It calls for robotization wherever possible, needed for reaching a 90 seconds flow time. All this is transforming bike production in Europe that stands to quadruple in volume in the next five years.

BERLIN, Germany - Several EU ministries already announced before the 2024 European elections, that regulations on vehicles would be revised, which also lead to changes in the existing e-bike regulations. It instantly raised concerns within the industry whether e-bikes will continue to be classified as bicycles. If not, the industry fears type approval and other restrictive regulations to be implemented for what is currently considered e-bikes.

HELSINKI, Finland - The Finnish bike sector may face a serious stagnation and decline of sales this year due to the national government's recent decision to abolish the tax benefit for companies' bicycles beginning in 2026.
