    BERLIN, Germany - A new battery-swapping service and matching e-bike fleet will soon be debuting on the streets of Amsterdam and Berlin, according to a press release by Enyring. The Yamaha subsidiary, established in December 2023, aims to be one of the first to introduce a battery-swapping service in Europe - and it's adding its own e-bike fleet to complement the service.

    Taiwan bicycle industry pushes back on reports of human rights violations

    TAIPEI, Taiwan - Human rights have become a key issue in industrial practices, progressing from a moral inclination to a regulatory necessity. This change is also taking place in the bicycle industry. The issue came to the forefront earlier this year when allegations of mistreatment of migrant workers in the Taiwanese bicycle industry surfaced. The Taipei Cycle show in March offered Bike Europe the opportunity to take stock of what is currently at play in Taiwan.

    Poland is point of entry in latest EU e-bike anti-dumping case

    LUXEMBOURG, Luxembourg - An investigation into suspected large-scale customs fraud related to the import of e-bikes from China is being led by the European Public Prosecutor's Office (EPPO) in Rotterdam, The Netherlands. In this latest case where the e-bikes are known to have entered the EU via Poland, the unpaid duties add up to an estimated loss of €1.8 million.

    EU e-bike legislation upheld in UK as proposed changes dismissed

    LONDON, England - Following a public consultation process, the UK's Department for Transport has decided against implementing new legislation for e-bikes in the country. Under discussion were raising the maximum continuous power classification of e-bikes from 250 watts to 500 watts and allowing throttle assistance up to 25 km/h on e-bikes without the need for type approval.
