    Glory Wheel expands global strategy with Spank and Fratelli acquisitions

    TAICHUNG, Taiwan - Renowned Taiwanese bicycle component manufacturer Glory Wheel Enterprise Co., Ltd. (GW) has acquired the bicycle accessory brands, Spank Industries and Fratelli Industries. Through the acquisition the Taiwanese aims to reinforce its position in the high-end bicycle components market. Financial details of the acquisition have not been disclosed.

    ZIV at Eurobike opening: 'German e-bike market fully back on track in 2025'

    FRANKFURT, Germany - Despite reports of ongoing high inventories in the market, German trade organisation, ZIV, presented an optimistic outlook during a market update on the day before Eurobike fully kicks off in Frankfurt. "Sales of e-bikes remain at a high level, and the overall market situation is characterised by healthy consumer demand," ZIV managing director Burkhard Stork stated when advocating the significant growth potential for the industry.

    igus plastic bicycle enters series production in Germany

    COLOGNE, Germany - The former igus:bike of the German plastics specialist has been renamed RCYL ready for market launch. On display at Eurobike, the bicycle is made from 50% recycled fishing nets and requires zero lubrication for the moving components. RCYL is now entering series production in a new facility in Cologne, with igus aiming to produce 5,000 bicycles by next season. Additionally, the company is expanding its bicycle component business including the first injection-moulded polymer bicycle frame for Advanced Bikes.

    ZF debuts ultra-compact 90 Nm e-bike drive at Eurobike

    FRANKFURT, Germany - ZF Group will present its new 48-volt drive system for e-bikes for the first time at Eurobike. Including all components of the 'ZF Bike Eco System', the core component is the ZF 'Centrix' drive unit with an ultra-compact, 90 Newton meter mid-motor. Raymon Bicycles is a launch partner with an e-MTB specified with the drive system expected in spring 2025.

    ZEG encouraging members to seek sustainability certification

    COLOGNE, Germany - As the first bicycle industry company in Germany, ZEG has successfully been recertified by European sustainability auditor, EMAS. The bicycle dealer cooperative Zweirad-Einkaufs-Gemeinschaft (ZEG) has demonstrated the role that environmental management has played at its headquarters in Cologne. This is also to become more important in ZEG's member companies across Germany.

    enviolo appoints new CEO as David Hancock steps down

    AMSTERDAM, the Netherlands - E-bike component manufacturer, enviolo has appointed a new CEO. Ed Cully has succeeded inaugural CEO David Hancock and assumed his new responsibilities as of April 8th. Hancock will transition to a non-executive role, joining enviolo's board of directors.

    UK bike industry bodies issue e-bike battery guidance as new safety bill is proposed 

    LONDON, England - An increase in e-bike battery fires in the UK has prompted a call for new legislation to mandate the safety of e-bike batteries including third party approval. In response, two cycling industry trade bodies in the UK have joined forces to issue guidance sheets for the industry and called for stricter enforcement of product safety for products supplied to the UK.

    ASCOT, UK - Frog Bikes, the British manufacturer of children's bikes, is taking significant steps to reduce its carbon emissions by incorporating 25% post-consumer recycled aluminium into the production of bike frames and forks.     Eurobike entices 400 new exhibitors to second outing in Frankfurt

    FRANKFURT, Germany - Eurobike will have at least 400 new exhibitors when it returns to Frankfurt this year. Not only is the number of participating exhibitors increasing, the expo area will also be expanded compared to last year, the organisers Fairnamic have announced.     TBA appoints new chairman, KMC's Robert Wu

    TAIPEI, Taiwan - The chairman of KMC, Robert Wu, has been elected as chairman of Taiwan Bicycle Association (TBA). He takes over the role from Michael Tseng. Wu has been part of the TBA for many years, actively participating as executive director. Tseng has been appointed honorary chairman of the TBA.
