COLOGNE, Germany - The German Motorcycle Industry Association (IVM) and Koelnmesse have decided to suspend Intermot 2020 - an event it originally planned to host from 6 to 11 October 2020. An alternative digital format is under preparation and will be implemented by the year's end. The next physical edition of the biennial event will now be scheduled in 2022.

More than 1.7 million bicycles were sold in 2019, a 7 percent increase from the previous year. The market saw a continuous increase in e-bike sales and a slight recovery in traditional bikes. There are, however, strong concerns for 2020 data.

DOETINCHEM, the Netherlands - Today two bicycle manufacturers announced the restart of their production after they were closed when their governments launched measures against the Corona pandemic. Both Gazelle in the Netherlands and the Basque bicycle manufacturer Orbea S. Coop in Spain resumed operations "in compliance with the maximum health and hygiene measures established by the competent authorities," as both companies stated this morning.
