DAHON and Ideal Bike sign strategic cooperation agreement

In early January, folding bicycle manufacturer DAHON TECH (HKEX Stock Code: 02543.HK) and Ideal Bike Corp (TPEx Stock Code: 8933) signed a strategic cooperation agreement at DAHON's headquarters, with a focus on green mobility. Amid intensifying global market competition, the alliance centers on overseas business expansion, "tapping into the complementary strengths of both parties."

The strengths of this strategic cooperation include combining Ideal Bike’s production facilities, efficient workflows, and decades of manufacturing management expertise with DAHON’s folding bike technology and innovative design insights.

Strategic partnership underway

In this challenging market environment, the aim is to advance cost optimisation, expand product portfolios to cater to diverse customer needs and facilitate R&D exchanges and joint projects. According to DAHON, all these measures are intended to “accelerate the introduction of new products, improve technical content and quality and strengthen competitiveness in international markets.”

Three coordinated bases

Founded in 1980, Ideal Bike Corp has three coordinated bases in Poland, Taiwan Region and Dongguan of Mainland China. Poland, as Europe’s regional core, offers localized e-bike production with zero import duties for EU clients and a 99% assembly ratio. Taiwan Region serves as the R&D hub, premium bike assembly center, and global logistics headquarters. Dongguan of Mainland China leverages proximity to component suppliers and ports for cost-competitive production.

ESG and quality focus

Ideal Bike aligns its strategy with global carbon reduction and green energy goals. The company says it combines stable quality standards with professional service and ongoing innovation, aimed at the changing demand for sports, commuter and leisure bikes.

Manufacturing, quality control and R&D

Ideal Bike offers OEM/ODM manufacturing and engineering support, including CAE analysis, customized design and component matching. It also works with strict quality checks, such as random inspections of incoming parts and first-article confirmation before mass production, while operating flexible production capacity, dedicated e-bike lines and automated processes like robotic painting and labeling. On the R&D side, the company uses 3D printing for rapid prototyping and runs a range of tests to meet global regulations.

Complementary core strengths

The collaboration integrates DAHON's folding bike technology with Ideal Bike's manufacturing capabilities, global supply chain network and quality expertise. "By combining our strenghts, we will deepen penetration in key overseas markets, tailoring solutions to local demands while enhancing their international brand influence on a global scale," says DAHON. "In addition to providing high-performance, reliable products to a global audience, the partnership contributes to the innovative development of the global green mobility industry, driving sustainable progress across the sector."

Collaborative opportunities

DAHON is actively pursuing partnerships with distinguished companies worldwide to transform the bicycle industry. "We invite collaboration in several key areas:

  • R&D institutions for technical cooperation
  • distributors and Agents for exclusive product rights and co-branding opportunities
  • High-quality suppliers to strengthen its supply chain and enhance service standards
  • Recruitment of talented trofessionals
