FRIEDRICHSHAFEN, Germany - Removing VAT from all bikes and e-bikes in Europe? Investments of millions of Euros in cycling? Compulsory insurance threat for e-bike success? These are all topics on the agenda for Eurobike's Cycling Industry Leaders' summit, taking place the morning of Tuesday 10 July.

BRUSSELS, Belgium - "The European Commission's decision to register imports of e-bikes from China has caused great injury to companies," reports the Collective of European Importers of Electric Bicycles. "Not only to the members of the collective but to many more SMEs throughout Europe."

Introduced as a Kickstarter project Blaze and rebranded this year as 'beryl' the company will bring out a new generation of lights for city-cyclists at Eurobike. "We want to be the most-loved consumer brand in the urban cycling space," said beryl founder and CEO Emily Brooke.

The Taiwan Bicycle Association reported a 38.9 percent year-on-year increase in the export of e-bikes in the first five months of the year. No less than 110,548 units were shipped of which 71,979 were distributed in Europe. During the whole year of 2017 Taiwan shipped a total of 126,132 e-bikes to the European Union.
