FRANKFURT, German - In the first half of 2022 e-bike and bicycle sales in Germany nearly matched the record levels of 2021. Despite inflation, supply chain problems and the war in Ukraine, the German industry association ZIV is very content with the first half results. "However a recent development of the past few weeks is that we see a depressed consumer demand," said ZIV MD Burkhard Stork today at the industry discussion ahead of the opening of Eurobike.
REUTLINGEN, Germany - The launch of Bosch's new ABS system for e-bikes has been long awaited. Incorrect braking is seen as one of the main causes of accidents. "The front wheel brake on a bicycle is crucial for a short braking distance," says Claus Fleischer, CEO of Bosch eBike Systems. ZOETERMEER, the Netherlands - Manufacturers and importers of e-bike batteries are now obliged to contribute to the collection and processing system for bicycle batteries. More than 150 companies which are members of the EPAC Foundation already meet these requirements. Since 1 July 2022 these conditions are generally binding.
