COLOGNE, Germany - The world's largest dealer cooperative ZEG officially confirmed the takeover of Kettler's bicycle division including its Hanweiler-based bike factory. It marks a change in ZEG's strategy as the retail organization is now a bicycle manufacturer as well.

CREUSSEN, Germany - Benobikes GmbH & Co. KG acquired the insolvent carbon lightweight construction manufacturer AX-Lightness GmbH. The company will continue its business as AX-Lightness Composites GmbH & Co. KG.

MÖSSINGEN, Germany - On November 1 electric cargobike supplier Gobax restarted after they filed for insolvency last July. The company's restart as Gobax Bikes GmbH & Co. KG is made possible by a new investor named Christoph Ziegler who is CEO of a company offering a range of (electric) bicycle parking facilities.

TACHIA, Taiwan - In an interview with Bloomberg Business the 81 years old Giant Manufacturing Co. founder and chairman King Liu revealed his plans to retire in 2017. A new chairman and CEO as well as an entire succession plans should be finalized at the end of 2016.

ENSE-PARSIT, Germany - According to a local newspaper - the Saarbrücker Zeitung - Europe's biggest dealer cooperative ZEG is about to take-over Kettler's Hanweiler based bicycle factory. The Kettler management is currently working on an insolvency plan which is scheduled to be finalized together with the company's creditors at end of the year.

GIVISIEZ, Switzerland - Scott Sports SA is continuing its expansion. The company owned by Korean Youngone Corp. has signed a preliminary agreement for the take-over of the Dolomite division from the Italian holding Tecnica Group SpA which is operating outdoor brands like Bladerunner, Blizzard, Lowa, Moon Boot, Nordica, Rollerblade and Tecnica.

TOKYO, Japan - E-bikes were the driving force of Japan's bicycle market in 2014. Despite the fact that sales in units dropped; money-wise the Japanese market was still able to record growth. However, it's doubtful this will continue in 2015 when looking the latest figures.
