HAIBACH, Germany - Battery manufacturer Akku Vision is expanding its international distribution by signing agreements with Doctibike for the French market and with Newen SRL for the Italian, Spanish and Portuguese markets.
MUNICH, Germany - Bike Connection Demo is the name of a new media test event from Bike Connection Agency, in collaboration with IAA Mobility. The event taking place from June 18th-19th 2021 in Andalo, Italy will provide an all-categories media testing platform for every brand involved in the bicycle industry.
BRUSSELS, Belgium - Women in Cycling is a new initiative being launched by a coalition of industry organisations and NGOs which aims to help women to get more visibility, impact and leading roles in the cycling sector. Officially launched with a kick-off session on 24th February, the group aims to "get women in all the places where decisions are made," explained Lauha Fried, policy director of Cycling Industries Europe, one of the initiators of the platform.
BUCHAREST, Romania - Andrei Botescu, the founder of bicycle producer Atelierele Pegas, and four other shareholders have sold all their remaining shares in the vintage bicycle brand. Network One Distribution (NOD), which is fully controlled by Iulian Stanciu, CEO of the large Romanian online retailer, has become the sole shareholder of the company.
COTATI, US - Yuba Bikes, the US producer of cargo bikes has introduced a new e-cargo bike to the market, the Kombi E5. This model is the electrification of its top-selling model the Kombi, which was introduced last year. The e-cargo bike will be available in European dealerships from April.

ANKARA, Turkey - European demand for Turkish e-bikes quadrupled in 2020, according to data of the Aegean Exporters' Association. The export value of e-bikes manufactured in Turkey in 2020 reached €32.6 million compared to €7.5 million in 2019, particularly from Accell Group's Turkish subsidiary, Accell Bisiklet.
OBERWANGEN, Switzerland - myStromer AG enjoyed clear business growth in 2020 with continued market share increases for its speed pedelecs, particularly in the Netherlands. There, the market share for Stromer grew by 19%.
AACHEN, Germany - The booming e-bike market has led to a growing demand for butted spokes which offer extra strength. This has led German machinery manufacturer, Aachener Maschinenbau GmbH (AMBA), to develop a new gauge reducing machine which can achieve throughputs of up to 40 pieces per minute in spoke blank production. This is many times over the rates achievable by conventional machines.
