    BRUSSELS, Belgium - Bike Republic, Colruyt Group's chain of bike shops, is planting its flag in Brussels for the first time following the take-over of the large bicycle retailer, IMP Bike. The acquisition puts Colruyt Group on course for further expansion in the French speaking part of Belgium.

    Cambodia's bicycle export value rises significantly in 2022

    PHNOM PENH, Cambodia - Cambodia earned $505 million (€505 million) from bicycle exports in the first six months of this year, the country's Ministry of Commerce has announced. This is a 104% increase compared to last year. Besides high demand, a new investment law and influential trade rulings are cited as reasons for the growth.

    Hartex invests in new bicycle tube unit to cater for export market

    LUDHIANA, India - Hartex Rubber has opened a new bicycle tube plant at its Ludhiana site, creating an additional daily capacity of 25,000 tubes. "The new tube unit, at an investment of INR 150 million (€1.8 million) has been set up to cater entirely for the export market," explains Varun Sureka, Director, Hartex Rubber.

    FREEHOLD, NJ, US - The US-based electric vehicle technology company, Cenntro Electric Group Limited, has acquired a minority stake of 25% in Antric GmbH, a German-based e-cargo designer. Through the seven-figure investment Cenntro will support manufacturing the company's Antric One e-cargo bike in Germany and market the product globally.

    KwikFit eyes gap in European e-bike and cargobike servicing market

    AMSTERDAM, the Netherlands - KwikFit has entered into e-bike servicing. In addition to cars, electric bicycles and cargobikes are now also maintained and serviced from four city centre locations in the Netherlands. The company's ambitions don't stop there, noticing a potential gap in the market, the company is eyeing a complete national network followed by an international roll-out of the concept, a move enthusiastically supported by the UK head office and the Japanese shareholder.

    Bafang supports e-bike development with own EMC Laboratory

    SUZHOU, China - After two years and a capital investment of more than ¥10 million (€1.44 million), Bafang has completed the building of an Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) laboratory, becoming one of the few companies in the global electric system industry to own such a facility. The e-bike drive system manufacturer says that the new facility "will substantially and positively impact Bafang's product development, driving up quality and efficiency while reducing costs".

    UK trade body proposes new tariffs for two Chinese e-bike exporters

    LONDON, England - Two Chinese e-bike manufacturers who are new to the UK market should be allowed to move to a lower import tariff rate - this has been proposed by the Trade Remedies Authority (TRA), a body of the UK governments' Department for International Trade. With e-bike sales on the rise in the UK, "the change in tariff rate would help meet demand in this growing market," the TRA said in a statement.
