    STUTTGART, Germany - In less than a month after the Fraser Group announced the takeover of Wiggle and Chain Reaction, the UK online business of Signa Sports United, the insolvency administrator reports the acquisition of a part of the German online business of former giant Signa Sports United. The new owner of the platforms Fahrrad.de and Bikester is Koehler Group Holding GmbH.

    Subscribers only Italian bicycle market closes 2023 with 23% decline in sales

    MILAN, Italy - The 2023 bicycle market in Italy closed with a 23% year-on-year decline in sales volume. Italy's bicycle industry association ANCMA reported a distribution of just over 1.3 million bicycles and e-bikes combined, generating a turnover of € 2.6 billion, a decrease of 18% compared to 2022.

    Yamaha starts e-bike drive production in France

    SAINT QUENTIN, France - In order to supply its European based e-bike manufacturers swiftly and with shorter lead times, Yamaha Motor Europe opened a completely new drive unit assembly line at the factory in Saint Quentin, France. The factory in Saint Quentin is operated by Yamaha Motor Manufacturing Europe. The inauguration took place yesterday.

    Alltricks is moving forward in a tough market

    MONTIGNY-LE-BRETONNEUX, France - The French Alltricks group has reported a 4% increase in sales last year despite the difficult conditions. "In 2023, our business is back on the rise, whereas distribution has suffered greatly. It's likely that we were able to make progress because of our competitors' failures. But our success is also due to the loyalty of our customers, with a returning consumer rate of 75%. This is very important in difficult times," explains Nicolas Burger, co-CEO of the French company.

    Economic and inventory woes push Schwalbe turnover down 30%

    REICHSHOF, Germany - Tyre manufacturer Schwalbe has reported a turnover of €237 million in 2023, down 30% from a record year in 2022. Dampened consumer sentiment and high inventory levels at all trade levels are cited to have had an impact. Nevertheless, the turnover was still well above the pre-corona level. In 2019, turnover reached €210 million.

    BRUSSELS, Belgium - To draw attention to the impact of anti-dumping and anti-subsidy measures against made-in-China e-bikes, LEVA-EU hosted a meeting with the European Commission. According to LEVA-EU more than 40 company representatives and lawyers signed up for the meeting held on March 15.
