    Qwic restart after bankruptcy shrouded in mist

    AMSTERDAM, the Netherlands - The QWIC administrator has reached an agreement with a consortium of investors for a restart. This was announced by Wieringa lawyers last Friday. The new owners of Qwic have not made themselves public, while Qwic founder and CEO Taco Anema told Bike Europe he will no longer be involved in the new operation.

    Cycling Industries Europe CEO Kevin Mayne to retire

    BRUSSELS, Belgium - Brussels based trade association and industry lobby group Cycling Industries Europe (CIE) has announced that Kevin Mayne, the founding Chief Executive of the organisation, is to retire in 2024. Mayne, one of the industry's most visible political figures will step down later in the year after handing over to a successor who will be appointed through a selection process which will start immediately.

    Arcade Cycles doubles capacity with new French factory

    LA ROCHE-SUR-YON, France - Last year bicycle manufacturer Arcade Cycles reached maximum capacity at its historical production facilities in La Roche-sur-Yon. To solve this problem, the French company inaugurated a new production site in early January. "In 2023, we reached our production limit of 60,000 bicycles, therefore we decided to build a new facility to expand our capacity," explains Emilie Cojan, head of communication, digital, and ESG.

    Accell Group 'analysing all options for investment plan in Netherlands'

    HEERENVEEN, the Netherlands - The merger of two factories into one as Accell Group announced last Tuesday, has to result in a more efficient and sustainable production. However, an Accell Group spokesperson confirmed to Bike Europe that an investment plan for this modernisation has not been made yet. "We are currently analysing all options."

    Accell Group簡化營運將裁員

    Accell Group cuts jobs as production across Europe is streamlined

    HEERENVEEN, The Netherlands - Accell Group has announced today that it plans to adjust its production structure to "simplify operations and enhance efficiency". To do this Accell will merge its two facilities in Heerenveen, The Netherlands and relocate some of the current production to Accell's other European manufacturing facilities. Up to 150 job losses are expected.

    Bicycle segment restructuring impacts Pierer Mobility's 2023 earnings

    WELS, Austria - Pierer Mobility Group warns for more consolidations and job losses in its bicycle and e-bike division in the year ahead in its preliminary financial figures for 2023. The company did report a 9% increase in consolidated sales to a new record of almost €2.7 billion in 2023, but that increase was fully attributed to its motorcycle business.
