AARAU, Switzerland - This Swiss bicycle market developed in 2023 in line with other European countries. After the sales peak in 2020-2022, the market volume dropped last year by 18%. While sales decreases were reported in all categories, it was the speed pedelec market that made strong gains.
AARAU, Switzerland - For the third year in a row, 2022 was not a normal one in the Swiss bicycle market. Although e-bike deliveries rose for the first time to over 200,000 units, with an increase of 17%, the overall market marginally shrank again to 483,562 units. This was due to the decline in traditional bicycle sales.
AARAU, Switzerland - After total bicycle sales skyrocketed by 38% in 2020, poor availability brought the Swiss industry back down to earth in 2021. Sales fell by 1.6% to a total of 493,826 e-bikes and bicycles. E-bike sales have now grown to a 37.9% market share.
SOLOTHURN, Switzerland - Swiss bicycle and e-bike sales in 2020 at a first glance represent the rising popularity of cycling as a means of transport and fitness. With 171,132 e-bikes sold a new record was reached and total bike sales tipped the half million mark. However, with the Swiss bicycle association's surveys data coordinating with federal customs figures for the first time, the official Swiss sales statistics not only show a sharp rise, but also more 'accurate' figures.

The sales growth in 2019 doubled compared with 2018. The market expansion was mainly due to high demand for e-bikes, where the market share increased from 32.3 to 36.6%, the industry association Velosuisse reported.
BERN, Switzerland - The Swiss e-bike sales broke a new record in 2018. As expected, the e-bike sales volume passed the threshold of 100,000 units. With a total of 111,000 units, almost every third bicycle sold in Switzerland was electrified.
