SAN VENDEMIANO, Italy - Cytech, who manufactures pads and palms for cycling apparel under the Elastic Interface brand has acquired a majority stake in Italian accessory and glove manufacturer, Pasasport. "The take-over allows us to accelerate the expansion of Elastic Interface into new markets and diversify our product offering in the cycling sector and across other sports," explains Cytech CEO Massimo Fregonese.
HEFEI, China - Following a difficult year including multiple postponements and a relocation from Shanghai, the 31st China International Bicycle Fair, also known as China Cycle, will not be held at all this year. The organisers have officially postponed the event to May 2023.
BRUSSELS, Belgium - Bike Republic, Colruyt Group's chain of bike shops, is planting its flag in Brussels for the first time following the take-over of the large bicycle retailer, IMP Bike. The acquisition puts Colruyt Group on course for further expansion in the French speaking part of Belgium.
WELS, Austria - Pierer Industrie has acquired an 80% stake in the Johansson cargo bikes business, from EW Mobility GmbH & Co KG, following which a newly founded Johansson GmbH based in Schweinfurt, Germany, will be established. The acquisition shows that the Pierer group doesn't want to miss out on this rapidly growing product category.
HEFEI, China - The strict COVID regulations imposed in Shanghai made the organisers of the China Cycle 2022 decide not just to postpone the show, but also relocate the event almost 500 km east to Hefei, the capital of the Anhui province.
DIEREN, the Netherlands - As of this month Pon Holding will make Gazelle e-bikes also available in Italy. The Dutch bicycle manufacturer owned by Pon Holdings says the move ties in with its international growth ambitions. Gazelle has also announced a new managing director as of March 1st, 2022.

After virtually all events were cancelled this year due to Corona, Messe Friedrichshafen developed an all new road map for 2021 events. The 29th Eurobike will take place in the first week of September as well as a July order and preview event together with German retailer association BICO.
STUTTGART, Germany - To increase the efficiency of its returns processing, German bicycle and outdoor multichannel retailer Internetstores GmbH, has opened a state-of-the-art returns centre. HÜLLHORST, Germany - German compact bike pioneer and niche brand i:SY GmbH & Co. will discontinue its license agreement with production and distribution partner Hermann Hartje KG at the end of 2021.
MECHELEN, Belgium - Shimano Belgium and Lazer Sport are relocating to a brand new office in Mechelen, Belgium as per 1 July 2021, Shimano Europe has announced. "Better facilities to meet the future growth ambitions of both companies" is what has instigated the move.
