    German bicycle industry urges greater support in government election...

    BERLIN, Germany - Eyeing the upcoming federal elections, the advocacy organization Zukunft Fahrrad (Bicycle Future), issued a position paper campaigning for more political support for the bicycle industry. The new government in Germany will have to make clear policy choices as the cycling industry is not the only sector that's facing challenges and thus calling for support.

  • “The time has come for a strong commitment at EU level to cycling as a fully-fledged mode of transport and to its industry as one of the key industries in Europe,” MEP Karima Delli told the audience of the CONEBI annual conference.

    'Europe must push for stronger policies in favour of cycling'

    BRUSSELS, Belgium - High-level policymakers, industry experts, and cycling stakeholders came together at the annual CONEBI conference last month to foster a political dialogue on the EU Industrial Transition and the European Cycling Declaration. "We have a momentum in Europe to push for stronger policies in favour of cycling and the cycling industry," said MEP Karima Delli during the event held at the European Parliament.

    European Parliament calls for stronger and more competitive bike...

    BRUSSELS, Belgium - The Transport and Tourism (TRAN) Committee of the European Parliament is pushing the European Commission and the Member States to support the production of 'Made in Europe' bicycles and components. On Tuesday, TRAN Committee approved a resolution, which calls for a EU Cycling Strategy. The strategy should regard all the aspects: from safer infrastructure for cyclists to a stronger and more competitive bike industry.

    'Cycling is the fast track to get out of Russian oil'

    BRUSSELS, Belgium - "Cycling is unique," declared Kevin Mayne, CEO of CIE during the recently held CIE 2022 Summit. "During the pandemic we showed that no other sector can transform urban mobility and leisure faster than cycling. If Europe wants to kick start the Green Deal and get out of Russian oil rapidly then cycling is the fast track."

    First ever Pan-European Master Plan for Cycling Promotion adopted

    BRUSSELS, Belgium - To help national and local stakeholders streamline efforts to promote cycling, 54 countries yesterday adopted the first ever Pan-European Master Plan for Cycling Promotion at the Fifth High-Level Meeting on Transport, Health and Environment (THE PEP). "A historic milestone," says Manuel Marsilio, general manager of the Confederation of the European Bicycle Industry (CONEBI) who supported the elaboration of the plan.
