Singapore-based industrial group Dutech has completed the acquisition of Accell's Dutch bicycle brands Batavus, Koga and Carqon from the trustees of the bankrupt group. The deal also includes Accell's Hungarian operations and bicycle factory, and brings some clarity for dealers who have been waiting weeks to place their 2027 orders.

BUDAPEST, Hungary - Olimpia Bicycle Ltd, the long-standing Hungarian producer behind the Gepida brand and recognised OEM supplier in Central and Eastern Europe, has announced it will cease operation. Partners were informed on 18 November that the company will enter liquidation and will not continue under a legal successor.

 HEERENVEEN, the Netherlands - In a new move to better its financial position, Accell Group is further centralising its production capabilities. After more than a century, bicycles will no longer be produced at its site in Heerenveen, the Netherlands. The factory is expected to close by the end of Q1 2026, and production will be integrated into existing manufacturing facilities in Hungary. The closure will lead to a loss of approximately 160 jobs.

TAIPEI, Taiwan - Two Chinese battery manufacturers, Phylion's subsidiary Joycube and Greenway, told Bike Europe of their intent to open factories in Hungary during this year's Taipei Cycle show.
