    Belgian speed pedelec market accelerates as leasing reshapes demand

    Belgium's speed pedelec market continued its transformation in the first half of 2026, with strong growth in new registrations driven by leasing contracts and large fleet deliveries, while the rapidly expanding second-hand market is creating a broader customer base for speed pedelec sales in Europe's leading market.

    Belgium pulling ahead of neighbouring markets with steady growth

    Contrary to almost all other European countries, the Belgian bicycle market is performing very well. After the 2022 peak, the market bounced back to a pre-pandemic level, and has not been affected by the sustained decline seen in Germany, Italy and the Netherlands. In 2025, the Belgian market even experienced a 7.1% increase to 578,737 units in total. What made this Belgian miracle?

    Chinese brand Navee unveils e-bike strategy for Europe and the US 

    Navee, best known in European and US markets for its premium e-scooters, has taken a significant step into the European e-bike market. An official launch event on 1 April in Munich, Germany, marked the Chinese mobility brand's "pedalling" debut in Europe, where it aims to compete, for the most part, in the mid-price segment with its speed-pedelec, e-bike and cargobike solutions. Bike Europe spoke to the company at the Taipei Cycle Show to find out more.

    Stromer teases new chapter as concept bike targets 2027 launch 

    At Velofollies this month, Stromer took the opportunity to present its new concept for the future in an exclusive area requiring pre-access and no mobile phones. Behind the veil was a concept of the brand's new speed pedelec, which aims to make its debut at Velofollies in 2027. As part of the announcement, the company initiated a 365-day countdown to the launch. Although no photos or press kits were given, the new speed pedelec will be the fruits of four years in development and marks 'the future of Stromer'.

    Stromer enters a new era under new group CEO

    After what it called a "stabilisation process" under an ad-interim CEO, speed pedelec manufacturer, myStromer AG, will continue under the leadership of Marcel Korner, effective 1 May 2026. In the role of chief executive officer (CEO), Korner will also become a member of the myStromer AG Board of Directors.

    Viiala oozes innovation, audacity and 'new money' in Dubai reveal 

    DUBAI, United Arab Emirates - The Swiss brand, Viiala, entered the scene in September with the promise to disrupt the industry. Skip forward two months, and three concept models have been presented to a select group of 80 individuals, including suppliers, retailers and potential investors. Bike Europe was among the invitees to get a first glimpse of how the company is living up to that promise, during a grand unveiling in the Museum of the Future in Dubai's financial heart. The conclusion: the humble bicycle is no longer a simple mobility product.
