10 years of OLI eBike Systems and the ride towards the future

In 2025, the company celebrates a decade of progress, engineering, and commitment to redefining the e-bike experience. What began as an ambitious project rooted in Italian innovation has evolved into a recognised force in the e-bike industry. And with a clear mission: to become the first choice for European brands in the urban mobility segment.

The journey of OLI eBike Systems has always been guided by one principle: make e-mobility an everyday option — practical, reliable, and within reach. At this year’s Eurobike, the company will unveil four major innovations, each developed to bring that vision closer to reality.

The Pico: engineered for smart urban e-bikes

“The star of the lineup is the Pico e-bike system — a complete, smart solution designed specifically for the fast-growing urban segment,” says Giorgio Gavioli, CEO of OLI. “Far beyond a standalone motor, the Pico system includes motor, battery, and display options. It offers OEMs a flexible and cost-efficient platform for building modern city bikes.”

With mass production set to begin in Vietnam in Q4 2025 and stock held in Europe, the Pico is ready to meet the logistical and pricing needs of a dynamic, competitive market. Several leading frame manufacturers have already tested the motor, confirming its performance, adaptability, and production scalability.

“A key upgrade of the Pico, which perfectly meets the needs of the Northern European markets, is the possibility of having the new version of the coaster brake,” explains Gavioli. “Fully integrated into the system’s architecture, it allows for smooth deceleration and greater control in urban traffic. This feature reflects Pico’s commitment to meeting regional needs, offering a scalable solution without sacrificing price, reliability or modularity. With this feature, the system becomes a versatile engine platform, suitable for different global markets.”

Edge 2.0: power, refined

“Another significant step forward is the Edge 2.0 e-bike system — a next-generation platform for eMTB, eTrekking, and eUrban models,” continues Gavioli. “This next-generation system has undergone a complete engineering optimisation process.”

Internally restructured, Edge 2.0 now offers greater mechanical efficiency, reduced noise, and 90Nm of torque under sustained load — all while keeping the external dimensions unchanged. The internal motor volume has increased by over 10%, improving thermal stability and slowing heat buildup even under intense conditions.

Gavioli further emphasises the advantages of the system: “Through streamlined architecture and component standardisation, Edge 2.0 offers a more scalable, robust solution for OEMs aiming to deliver high-quality performance at lower production costs. And thanks to full compatibility with the Pico ecosystem, it allows manufacturers to simplify their product lines and leverage shared components across models.”

A new generation of displays

At Eurobike, OLI eBike Systems will preview a new range of displays designed to seamlessly integrate with its motor platforms. This new range marks a significant step forward in both functionality and design.

These new interfaces, selected and optimised to enhance the overall e-bike experience, bring a fresh standard in connectivity, minimal aesthetics, and ease of use. All displays in the range feature Bluetooth capabilities and are ready for smartphone app integration. This way, they are enabling real-time ride data, diagnostics, and system updates through a seamless digital ecosystem.

Highlights and specifications

“Among the highlights is a new handlebar-mounted model, designed to blend ergonomics and visibility without disrupting the bike’s silhouette,” explains Gavioli. “It is a solution tailored for the urban commuter who values both function and form. This approach reflects a deliberate design shift: to create compact, modern HMIs that integrate intuitively into different e-bike categories while reducing visual clutter and setup complexity.”

Full specifications will be unveiled during Eurobike, but the direction is clear. This new generation of displays signals a decisive move toward smarter, more accessible urban mobility, where digital control and clean aesthetics work in harmony.

Smarter support, better experience

As part of a broader commitment, the new OLI Service Hub is born. Gavioli explains: “This is next-generation diagnostic and update software, designed to meet the needs of dealers. With a completely redesigned interface, it allows real-time diagnostics, interactive infographics and an intuitive view of the bike. It helps you quickly identify problems and understand how to fix them. The platform also offers easy access to user manuals, tutorials and video guides. So it is easier than ever to stay informed and in control of your e-bike system.”

Eurobike 2025

OLI eBike Systems will be present at Eurobike this year. “All industry professionals, partners, and press are welcome to discover our full lineup and celebrate our 10th anniversary on June 26th,” concludes Gavioli. “You can find our indoor booth in hall 8.0 – G30. Or visit us in the outdoor test area (F11 – F33). To schedule a meeting or test ride, please send us an email at info@oli-ebike.com.”
