Why connectors are the unsung heroes of e-bike design
E-bikes face relentless challenges in a uniquely hostile environment: unrelenting vibration from rough roads, dust and water exposure, temperature swings, and demands for sleek, lightweight builds. A loose connection sparking a flickering headlight isn't mere inconvenience – it's a safety risk. Dropped sensor signals can cripple vital rider aids like stability controls. Legacy connectors buckle under these pressures, sparking reliability woes, tricky installs, and spiking warranty headaches. Chogori's connectors were designed and developed to solve these exact challenges.
What UL approval means for e-bikes
UL Solutions tests products such as Chogori’s e-bike connectors for hazards like fire, shock, and mechanical failure, with e-bike components often evaluated under standards like UL 2849 for electrical systems. Chogori's connectors, designed for battery charging, discharging, and cable-to-panel applications, meet key specs: IP67 waterproofing, 20A+5A current rating, -40°C to 105°C operation, and UL94V-0 flammability on critical parts. This ensures safer performance in harsh riding conditions, reducing risks from water ingress or electrical faults.
Benefits for e-bike manufacturers and riders
Certified connectors enhance system compatibility and compliance, vital for markets mandating UL marks like those in the United States and parts of Europe. Manufacturers gain faster market access and insurer confidence, while riders enjoy reliable power delivery for city bikes, cargo bikes, and pedelecs. Chogori's standardized assemblies support high-volume production with 300+ patents (ranging from invention patents to utility model patents and appearance patents) and certifications including IATF 16949, ISO 9001 and ISO14001 certifications.

Positioned for growth in a growing market
With e-bike adoption seeing consistent and steady growth – driven in the US by, for example, micromobility laws like New York City's UL 2849 mandate – Chogori positions platforms for growth.
Chogori manufactures its e-bike connectors at facilities in China, supported by a factory in Rayong, Thailand, which serves the company’s clients globally. The Shenzhen headquarters and Dongguan plant in China provide 44,000 sqm of production space, yielding 5 million units monthly under IATF 16949 standards. The Thailand site enhances supply chain stability for global e-bike OEMs.
E-bike platforms can use Chogori's UL-approved connectors to meet safety standards and comply with regulations. These components help reduce fire risks and improve reliability, supporting easier market access and greater rider confidence.
Raina Zhou, Chogori’s product manager, commented on the UL approval: "Securing UL approval for our e-bike connectors marks a pivotal milestone in delivering unmatched safety and reliability to the e-bike sector. This achievement is a testament to the dedication of our engineering and production teams across our facility, whose innovative spirit and rigorous execution turned complex challenges into industry-leading solutions."
