MONZA, Italy - Founded in 1907, Atala is one of Italy's largest bicycle manufacturers and since it became part of the Accell Group in 2010, it has been given a head-start in the e-bike category. Based in Monza, a few kilometers away from Milan, the brand produces all kinds of bicycles and e-bikes as well as home trainers. Bike Europe interviewed CEO Massimo Panzeri who shared his experiences of how Atala is positioned to handle the unprecedented growth in demand as a result of the pandemic.

MILAN, Italy - 2020 will be a record year for the Italian bicycle industry and for the national bike economy in general. The pandemic in the first place and the mobility bonus in second instance have given a huge boost to the market; so much that today, finding a bicycle in the shops has become impossible.

Subscribers onlyMILAN, Italy - Both assembly and sales of e-bikes are on the rise in Italy. The production of e-bikes last year strongly expanded by 209% to 213,000 units. Domestic production of regular bicycles also increased by 7% to 2,625,000 units. The Italians have really embraced the advantages of the e-bike as nationwide sales went up from 173,000 units in 2018 to 195,000 last year.

CAMBIAGO/MILAN, Italy - Another big Italian bicycle name has been sold to a fund. After Pinarello's acquisition, in 2017, by L Catteron (LVMH luxury group), it's now the time of one of the biggest and most historical names in Italy's cycling history: Colnago.
