CHANGHUA, Taiwan - To further advance the electrification of bicycles, Taiwan's high-end OEM and ODM frame producer, Astro Engineering Co. Ltd., has entered a collaboration with electronic component producer, Darfon Electronics Corporation and called it Astro Tech Co ltd.
AACHEN, Germany - The booming e-bike market has led to a growing demand for butted spokes which offer extra strength. This has led German machinery manufacturer, Aachener Maschinenbau GmbH (AMBA), to develop a new gauge reducing machine which can achieve throughputs of up to 40 pieces per minute in spoke blank production. This is many times over the rates achievable by conventional machines.

MONTREAL, Canada - Premium bike manufacturer, Argon 18, has established a new European headquarters in Lynge, Denmark. By merging operations with United Cycling, formerly Argon 18's official distributor in Scandinavia, Argon 18 Europe has been created. The European headquarters will offer a centralised distribution, warehousing and a customer service hub to better serve international partners.
AMSTERDAM, The Netherlands - enviolo has announced that industry veteran and former CEO of Derby Cycle, Mathias Seidler, has joined the company's board of directors. He took up the position in December 2020.
SUZHOU, China- Bafang has developed a Dealer Direct Service concept for bicycle manufacturers who use its complete e-bike drive system. This will be launched step by step from February; first within the Netherlands for several selected brands, followed by a phased roll-out across the whole of Europe.
PURMEREND, the Netherlands - The Italian bicycle assembly machinery maker Marchetti was taken over by Holland Mechanics in late 2019. The integration of both companies has reached its final stage. The take-over makes the Dutch wheel building specialist Holland Mechanics a turn-key supplier for all e-bike and bicycle assembly solutions. "Except for painting, we can now supply all necessary machinery for the complete assembly process," says Holland Mechanics general managers and owners Wouter and Maarten van Doornik.
SUZHOU, China - The future battery market will be disrupted by the growing popularity of e-bikes in combination with the electrification of all other means of mobility, like cars, light vehicles and even trucks. Battery manufacturers therefore need to strengthen their energy planning and construction capacity. KNOXVILLE, US - LeMond Bicycles has showcased the first production model photos of its lightweight Prolog e-bike. Designed for everyday use, the carbon fibre e-bike with integrated features is one of two models being launched by the US bike brand. It will begin shipping in February 2021.
