VIENNA, Austria - Pon Holding's investment company Ponooc has stepped into Austrian bike route supplier Bikemap. The undisclosed 7-figure investment will be used for further growth of the app, including product development and scaling of the team.

STUTTGART, Germany - The booming bicycle and e-bike market attracts more and more investors. Asset manager and index allocator Daubenthaler has introduced a 'bicycle share index'. The initial listing on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange is planned for 21 June but is already open for investors since 25 May.

He takes over from Žilvinas Dubosas, who is leaving the company to pursue another opportunity.

BRUSSELS, Belgium - High sales figures have dominated industry news and this is confirmed by the latest COVID impact survey of Cycling Industries Europe (CIE). Bicycle, parts and accessories companies are showing over 30% higher revenues in the first quarter of this year compared with 2020. The CIE Impact survey shows how these numbers are flowing through to other business indicators.

REICHSHOF, Germany - Schwalbe has introduced its first tyre exclusively for cargo bikes. The tyre manufacturer says the robust construction of the Schwalbe Pick-Up makes it capable of handling loads up to 300 kg rolling, while being stable, low-maintenance and durable.

HAIBACH, Germany - Akku Vision has launched two new models to its collection under the e-bike battery brand E-Bike Vision. For the popular Panasonic 36V Next Generation drive system, the 17Ah (605Wh) and 19Ah (691Wh) versions were both developed and assembled in Germany.

REDHILL, England - UK start-up Leopard Technology, has created a smart security and connectivity solution for the cycling industry. Developed over the last 12 months with a European bicycle manufacturer, Leopard Lync, utilises the latest in IoT technology to "provide bicycle and accessory manufacturers with the tools to make any bike a smart bike".

CHICAGO, USA - Rival is the next 12-speed group set on which SRAM has introduced eTap wireless electronic shifting. The system works exactly the same as on the Red and Force, launched in 2019, but is much more affordable. Obviously, the group carries a little more weight.

MARIN COUNTY, USA - Veer, maker of the spliced belt drive, aims to encourage the adoption of light electric vehicle usage in local transportation. Targeted at the light electric vehicle segment the Veer split belt drive is intended to replace aftermarket metal chains and secure partnerships with LEV manufacturers.

MADRID, Spain - E-bike and bicycle sales in Spain hiked to more than 1.5 million units in 2020, a record. According to the latest statistics published by the Spanish Bicycle Industry Association AMBE, the total market volume increased by 24.1% compared with 2019. The e-bike category recorded the biggest growth.

SHANGHAI, China - Chinese e-bike component manufacturer, Wuxing, unveiled a new mid motor during the China Cycle show 2021 earlier this month. The large domestic e-bike parts supplier presented not only the new e-bike mid motor, but also associated displays and lighting solutions.
