LAS VEGAS, United States - Bicycle-to-Vehicle (B2V) communication was definitely one of the hot topics at the virtual edition of this year's Consumer Electronics' Show (CES). A series of exhibitors released new products at the event which is known for showing remarkable innovations.

MÜHLTAL, Germany - E-bike and cargo bike manufacturer, Riese & Müller, has published its first Social Responsibility Report. Here, the company outlines its sustainability strategy and zero emissions successes, and reaffirms its goal of becoming "the most sustainable company in the e-bike industry in 2025".

TREVIGLIO, Italy - Bianchi has extended its Lif-e Electric Intelligence Program with the new E-Omnia e-bike platform covering city, tourer and mountain bike types. The Italian high-performance brand, generally known for their sports bikes only, has unveiled eight models across the three different types in what it calls "a significant step forwards in the electric revolution."

GENT, Belgium - Trade association LEVA-EU says companies that solely assemble e-bikes are confronted with unfair competition that is threatening their existence. EU regulation makes it almost impossible to start up new companies and could severely hinder the EU's net-zero emissions target.

FULDA, Germany - Parts manufacturer, Büchel is encouraging the industry to capitalise on the boom in the European bicycle market by starting within its own ranks. The company has announced an ambitious investment program of around €20 million for the next 5 years to expand production capacity.

TREVISO, Italy - The Pinarello Group, together with majority shareholder L Catterton, have announced key investments in top management creating an organisational structure which has been "designed to boost growth initiatives and accelerate the brand's development".

FRANKFURT, Germany - It is a rapidly growing and global phenomenon: bikes of different breeds zipping through cities, being picked up and deposited at will. They belong to companies, not privates. The future of cycling could be sharing, not owning one. "A trend in the making," experts say. How can companies avoid the same pitfall which made an end to the Chinese 'free-floating' bike sharing systems?

BRUSSELS, Belgium - As a part of the Circular Economy Action Plan the European Commission proposes to modernise EU legislation on batteries. Batteries placed on the EU market should become sustainable, high-performing and safe all along their entire life cycle.

GIVISIEZ, Switzerland - With a total of 72 different e-bike models, the 2021 eRIDE collection from multisport supplier Scott Sports takes a comprehensive approach to this year's season. Better known for sportive premium bicycles, the Swiss company now has a fair amount of urban e-bikes in its latest portfolio.

LONDON, UK - HumanForest, a newly established e-bike provider has raised £1.3 million (€1.46 million) via a crowdfunding campaign. Headed by a former senior executive of Spanish ride sharing company, Cabify, HumanForest aims to offer a sustainable e-bike service in cities starting with London this Spring.

SUZHOU, China - E-scooters and e-motorcycles are a common means of transportation in China, with more than 30 million units being sold there last year. But these products have not been popularized in the European market. Chinese e-bike battery manufacturer Phylion, predicts this will change in the next 5-10 years. 

MILAN, Italy - Despite the health emergency and economic difficulties, the 2020 Italian e-bike market enjoyed a major increase in sales. All two-wheel categories, including motorbikes and scooters, saw double digit sales growth figures and the e-bike in particular.

NANTES, France - At the Consumers Electronics Show 2021, held in early January, the French start-up La Ruche à Vélos ('bikehive' in English) presented its automated bike parking concept, intended for cities and real estate developers. The company aims to change the experience of urban e-bike and bicycle parking

TAIPEI, Taiwan - Pre-registration has begun for the physical and online Taipei Cycle Show which will take place March 3-6, 2021 at TaiNex 1. The online event will kick off on the same day as the physical event, allowing international buyers to participate remotely using the new online platform.
