    Cambodia sees Q1 surge in bicycle exports to meet increased demand

    PHNOM PENH, Cambodia - With coronavirus having a positive knock-on effect for cycling and bicycle purchases, Cambodia has also seen an upsurge in bicycle exports in the beginning of this year. According to Cambodia's Chamber of Commerce, "the country exported almost half a million bicycles to the EU, worth about 109 million euro in the first quarter of the year, which is over 9 million euro more than the same period last year."

    Deloitte interview: "Relevance of cycling as a solution becomes bigger"

    LONDON, UK - "The fascinating thing of an e-bike is that it radically changes the ethic of a bicycle," said Paul Lee, Global Head of Research for the technology, media and telecommunications industry at Deloitte. Last January this renowned consultancy firm published a study named 'Discover the Future' in which it presents detailed expectations for the new decade. In the midst of topics like 5G, robots and where the smartphone will take us; cycling is mentioned as the second subject.

    GIVISIEZ, Switzerland - Due to the corona-pandemic Scott Sports SA's e-commerce business reports a strong 48 percent (YTD) website traffic increase.     Vital role for e-bike industry in EU's Recovery Strategy

    BRUSSELS, Belgium - "The upcoming European Commission proposal for the Recovery Strategy will embed the main elements of the European Green Deal, building on smart and clean mobility, which is at the core of the bicycle industry," stated the European Commission DG for EU Market and Industry in a letter to the industry confederation CONEBI.

    BOCHOLT, Germany - Despite corona-conditioned restrictions in March, traditional German D2C-supplier Rose Bikes GmbH achieved - compared with the first six months of the previous fiscal year 2018/2019 - a double-digit sales growth of over 20 percent in its first half of its from 1 November to 30 April running fiscal year 2019/20.     Swapfiets expands presence in Germany with Tchibo cooperation

    HAMBURG, Germany - Multichannel retailer Tchibo GmbH - a German chain of coffee retailers and cafés known for its range of weekly changing non-coffee products and service sales - announced a cooperation with Swapfiets, the Dutch bicycle concept known for its recognisable blue front-tired rental bikes and e-bikes, in Germany. Consumers can rent them via a monthly subscription fee including on-site all-around service.
