    VanMoof attracts 12.5 million euro investment on back of e-bike success

    AMSTERDAM, the Netherlands - Dutch e-bike producer, VanMoof, has secured a 12.5 million euro investment from one of Europe's leading venture capital firms Balderton Capital and assembly partner SINBON Electronics. The funds will support the brand's international expansion as it scales up to meet increased demand. The investment follows the successful launch of the new electric VanMoof S3 and X3 bikes.

    GreenMo Group strengthens e-mobility position with zZoomer take-over

    WAARDENBURG, the Netherlands - GreenMo Group, a participation of Rabo Corporate Investments, that offers full-service rental of (electric) vehicles to a variety of branches is continuing its rapid international growth path.     Domino's Pizza tests Giant's food Delivery-E+ bike

    LELYSTAD, the Netherlands - In a joint project, Giant and ConnectBike developed a new e-bike for the food delivery market. The world's largest food delivery chain Domino's Pizza also partnered in the project. The Deliver-E+ is a heavy duty e-bike suitable for very frequent use at low maintenance costs and value depreciation.

    German e-bike sales increase rapidly after shop re-openings

    COLOGNE, Germany - The opening of bicycle shops in Germany after the corona lock-down has resulted in a more than expected increase in sales. Particularly e-bikes are very popular now lock-down has ended as customer demand changes from leisure only to daily use. These initial results provoked ZEG CEO Georg Honkomp to state that, "if things go better again in the next few months, the 2020 sales decline as a result of corona will be limited."

    Yamaha moves OEM e-bike business to European headquarters

    AMSTERDAM, the Netherlands - Just in time for the reopening of IBD stores previously hampered by the coronavirus, e-bike drivetrain supplier Yamaha announces that the OEM e-bike business in Europe will soon be coordinated from Yamaha Motor Europe NV's European headquarters in Amsterdam. It has been previously managed from the company headquarters in Japan. The complete transition is expected to be completed by the end of 2020.

    Dorel Q1: Surge in bike sales boosts growth in sports division

    MONTREAL, Canada - Dorel Industries Inc., owner of bicycle brands including Schwinn, Mongoose and Cannondale has reported its Q1 results for 2020. The financial statement shows that coronavirus has interrupted an otherwise solid start to the year. Dorel Sports, which includes the bicycle segment, has recorded a fourth consecutive quarter of revenue growth with April bicycle sales surging.

    Mavic receivership raises questions over owner

    ANNECY, France - The iconic brand Mavic has been in receivership since 2 May 2020. Nearly 10 months ago Mavic was officially sold by its parent company Amer Sports to the Californian private equity firm, Regent LP, for an undisclosed amount. However, the Mavic employees and the French unions now found out that another company is involved in the ownership.

    Coronacrisis in the Netherlands: undiminished high demand for e-bikes

    AMERSFOORT, the Netherlands - The latest sales figures of the country's biggest dealer cooperative, Dynamo Retail shows an ongoing demand for e-bikes. Compared with last year, the turnover in April for the category of bicycles increased by 5.8%. For all product categories combined the group reports a 6.3% growth. A remarkable result now the whole economy is struggling with impact of the coronacrisis.

    Amprio gets parent company service support for drivetrain launch

    NECKARSULM, Germany - At last year's Eurobike, Amprio GmbH's head of drive unit development, Dietmar Greven, stated that the 2016-founded start-up intends to start series production of its own pedelec drivetrain system called "E-Track System" in mid 2021. Meaning that Amprio drivetrains with individual control unit (HMI) and rechargeable battery will first buzz onto the market in 2022. Backed by its parent company Rheinmetall Group the newcomer can now also rely on a comprehensive and customer-oriented logistics and service concept.

    Eurobike goes 'strictly business' with rescheduled November date

    FRIEDRICHSHAFEN, Germany - Messe Friedrichshafen has announced that Eurobike 2020 will move to November citing that it was "practically impossible" to run on the planned date in September. The organisers will now hold a one-off Eurobike Special show from 24 to 26 November 2020, with a pure B2B format.
