    16,500 fatbikes seized in the Netherlands due to non-compliance with...

    THE HAGUE, the Netherlands - In a large scale operation to halt the influx of fatbikes that do not meet the legal requirements of an e-bike or a moped, the Dutch authorities seized a total of 16,500 fatbikes. The Human Environment and Transport Inspectorate reports the fatbikes are in fact illegal mopeds and originate from several Chinese manufacturers.

    Pon.Bike's Lithuania factory opening a high-brow investment event

    KEDAINIAI, Lithuania - Industry guests, suppliers, building constructors and official authorities gathered Tuesday for the official opening of Pon.Bike's state-of-the-art bicycle and e-bike factory in Lithuania. The Ministry of Economy and Innovation granted the status of this €57 million project into a major foreign direct investment which turned the opening into a high-brow event.

    Vinka unveils Z60 mid-motor with Bosch compatibility

    SUZHOU, China - The Z series launched by Vinka at this year's Eurobike is a new generation mid-motor system. The newest model in the series, the Z60, unlike previous products in the S, C, V and E lines, is compatible to fix to a Bosch bottom bracket. Besides the latest innovations, the motor manufacturer is also eyeing a move to close-to-market production.

    ZF presented its new 48-volt drive system for e-bikes for the first time at Eurobike 2024. At the heart of this system is the compact, powerful mid-motor: ZF CentriX. The ZF e-motor, featuring a strain wave gear and external rotor, delivers a powerful torque of 90 Newton meters, all within the installation space typically reserved for light-assist motors.     Subscribers only Taiwan e-bike exports to key European markets under pressure

    TAIPEI, Taiwan - Overall e-bike exports from Taiwan grew 5% between Q1 and Q2 of this year, according to the latest customs data. However, exports to Europe in the same period dropped 5%. More worryingly the trend looks set to continue as key markets in Europe see imports plummet in July.

    Start-up Skarper bags another €5.1m for e-bike conversion kit launch

    LONDON, England - Skarper, which was founded in 2020, has secured £4.5m (€5.1 million) in additional financing from a syndicate of prominent investors for developing its portable drive system. The start-up will use the investment to deliver its first products to the market in Q4 of this year.

    Cowboy raises €5 million in new investment round

    BRUSSELS, Belgium - The omnichannel brand Cowboy has announced a new strategic investor. Cypress Capital is leading a €5 million financing round supported by existing investors. Hongkong based Cypress Capital invested €3 million while other existing Cowboy partners Index Ventures, Hardware Club, Future Positive Capital, Isomer, and Exor together invested another €2 million.
