    Ready-to-use battery passport solution debuted by OKGO

    FRANKFURT, Germany - Taiwanese IT company, OKGO has developed a cloud-based, full-service platform to support the development of a smarter e-bike industry. Additionally, the company recognises that digital solutions are evolving from 'nice to have' to 'need to have' as more regulations come into play. On display at Eurobike, the company debuted its fully compliant Battery Passport solution developed in collaboration with Chinese battery manufacturer Greenway.

    European Union's guidelines on batteries still pose safety concerns for e-bikes

    BRUSSELS, Belgium - The fierce discussion 2 years ago on the new battery regulation implemented by the European Commission seem to have moved to the background. The challenging market conditions appear to be more relevant than a new European regulation which will be implemented in January 2027. One element in this regulation is that the single cell replacement for e-bike batteries would cause serious safety issues according to many industry insiders.

    Guidelines issued on much-discussed 'Article 11' of European battery regulation

    BRUSSELS, Belgium - When the new battery regulation came into place in August 2023, a lot of attention from the bicycle industry was given to 'Article 11' on repairability. The European Commission has now published guidelines to facilitate the introduction of this part of the regulation, and specifically the much-discussed topic of single-cell replacement.

    Regulation required to ban unsafe e-bike battery chargers and conversion kits

    LONDON, UK - Quality issues with e-bike battery chargers have caused reasons for concern in the UK but also in EU countries. One of the largest online sellers of e-bike chargers and conversion kits, Wish.com has banned the sales of the products citing safety risks. Yet there are serious concerns about the enforcement of the new policy.

    European Council adopts new Batteries Regulation

    BRUSSELS, Belgium - The adoption process of the new European Batteries Regulation has entered its final stage. The approval stage has now been closed following the vote on Monday 10 July by the European Council.
