    Cycling startups from six countries in Arkansas accelerator program

    To leverage access to key investors, industry mentors, and strategic partnerships with leading brands, the Arkansas Global Cycling Accelerator (AGCA) has selected 10 companies for its 2026 cohort. The program is designed to help tech-enabled companies in the cycling industry explore business opportunities in the United States and Arkansas.

    Fundracer investment enables bicycle airbag market roll-out

    The micro-mobility investment fund Fundracer announced an undisclosed investment in Belgian startup Aerobag, which is pioneering ultra-lightweight, compact airbag technology designed specifically for cyclists. Aerobag set out with a clear and ambitious mission: to adapt proven airbag technology from the automotive industry into a form factor that works for cycling.

    Mips snaps up impact protection pioneer for €40 million

    TABY, Sweden - To strengthen its portfolio through complementary technologies, helmet safety technology supplier Mips AB has signed a binding agreement to acquire impact protection technology pioneer Koroyd. "This acquisition positions the group uniquely in the market and enables interesting entries into other adjacent product areas," CEO of the Swedish helmet-based safety provider commented on the takeover. The transaction is expected to be completed this month.

    Italy restricts the usage of e-scooters

    ROME. Italy - The micro mobility market in Italy will have to adjust to a series of restrictions as part of the mandatory new highway code. These include the usage of a helmet, but also a mandatory license plate and insurance. These restraints are a new setback for this highly popular micro mobility product, although Italy is certainly not the first country in Europe which restricts the use of e-scooters.

    Hövding AB files for bankruptcy after consumer agency calls for sales stop

    MALMÖ, Sweden - Possibly the most remarkable and inventive cycling accessory, the Hövding is no longer on the market. The Swedish Hövding AB filed for bankruptcy last month after regulators stopped the sales of its main product. According to the Swedish Consumer Agency the airbag helmet doesn't inflate properly on impact.

    Uvex Group to close its German bicycle helmet production

    OBERNZELL, Germany - Cycling and sports gear manufacturer Uvex Group announced the closure of one of its European production locations in a strategic reorientation. The company will close its independent helmet production subsidiary, known as BSA, by the end of 2024. Approximately 190 jobs are affected by the closure.
