The Spanish bicycle market is continuing to navigate a post-pandemic correction. As markets cool and consumer budgets tighten, Spain has again had to swallow a decrease in its bicycle production output. Spain closed 2025 with 286,100 units produced, at a production value of €233 million, according to official data published by the Spanish Ministry of Industry and Tourism.

In 2025, the total export value of bicycles from Portugal increased by 4.26% to €777.1 million. The latest report from the industry association Abimota reveals a recovery in the country's bicycle and e-bike exports after two years of decline. The latest Abimota report does not disclose the export volume.

Portugal's EU-funded AM2R programme is entering its final stretch. With the €113.8 million Recovery and Resilience Plan (PRR), scheduled to conclude in June, it has become a defining industrial policy project for the Portuguese two-wheeler sector; from higher-value product development to advanced manufacturing, and exportable innovation.

The close connections between Triangle's and Hero Motor Company (HMC) have progressed into a strategic technical and sourcing partnership. The two companies agreed to combine Triangle's engineering excellence with India‑based industrial scale at HMC to create a competitive aluminium bicycle-frame-building conglomerate. HMC will get access to technical know-how, while Triangle's can more easily supply entry-level and mid-premium frames for the European Union market.

As Portugal's AM2R programme nears completion at the end of 2025, the country's two-wheel industry stands transformed. Launched with the backing of the EU's Recovery and Resilience Plan, the project managed to unite 47 companies and institutional partners under the coordination of ABIMOTA, Portugal's national two-wheeler association.

GIRONA, Spain - Accell Group has appointed William Perrier as managing director for Southern Europe in a role that was cut a couple of years ago. The renewed focus on the region is part of the group's strategy aimed at accelerating its development in the key markets of France, Spain, Portugal and Andorra. Perrier was presented at Sea Otter Europe as the man to boost the sales of Accell brands Lapierre, Ghost, Winora and Haibike, which are at the core of sales in the region.
