    MOSCOW, Russia - With Western sanctions and the ever-growing isolation of Russia in the international arena, serious pressure is being put on the country's bicycle industry. The shortage of bikes and a sharp rise in price of those bikes available are key problems the sector is currently facing. So where are the bikes and parts needed to support the industry currently coming from?

    'Cycling is the fast track to get out of Russian oil'

    BRUSSELS, Belgium - "Cycling is unique," declared Kevin Mayne, CEO of CIE during the recently held CIE 2022 Summit. "During the pandemic we showed that no other sector can transform urban mobility and leisure faster than cycling. If Europe wants to kick start the Green Deal and get out of Russian oil rapidly then cycling is the fast track."

    NEW YORK, USA - An index of global supply chain pressure published by the Federal Reserve Bank of New York clearly shows that the Russian invasion of Ukraine is adding a fair amount of 'extra pressure' to an already strained situation. The pressure index is now at an all-time high.

    MOSCOW, Russia - By no means was 2021 an easy year in Russia. Late and scarce deliveries, lack of components for OEMs, high inflation and overall uncertainty, made it a year of surprises.
