    Bob Margevicius: Cycling industry must deliver to prove its place in sustainable transport 

    The lack of verified data on cycling's role in the wider mobility sector is starting to weigh heavily on the industry. The UN Decade of Sustainable Transport (2026-2035) could be the next moment for the bicycle industry to claim a larger space within mobility. But what can the industry add to these meetings? No verified data is available on the role of cycling in mobility. The WBIA (World Bicycle Industry Alliance) meeting during the Taipei Cycle Show gave some clarifications.

    WBIA promotes cycling as a scalable, low-carbon transport solution at UN conference

    GENEVA, Switzerland - The UN 'Decade of Sustainable Transport (2026-2035)' might give a boost to the promotion of cycling on a global scale.     WBIA calls for collaboration in supply chain sustainability project

    FRANKFURT, Germany - The World Bicycle Industrial Association (WBIA) has launched a new supply chain project aimed at guiding the cycling industry towards a sustainable future. The Sustainable Supply Chain (SSC) Operating Model was validated during the WBIA's general assembly held during Eurobike Frankfurt 2024 and is built around the three pillars of education, energy and ecodesign.

    Büchel GmbH owner and CONEBI/WBIA president Erhard Büchel passes away

    FULDA, Germany - Erhard Büchel passed away on 12 May at the age of 71 after a short, serious illness. The news sparked response from industry peers worldwide as Erhard Büchel has been on the forefront of the industry for many years. Born on February 17, 1953 in Fulda, he took over the management of Büchel GmbH & Co. Fahrzeugteilefabrik KG, at the age of 23.

    Bicycle industry kicks-off 'Sustainable Supply Chain Project'

    BRUSSELS, Belgium - The international bicycle industry has embraced the initiative of the Taiwan Bicycle Association to agree upon a set of 10 sustainable supply chain principles. Three of these, education, energy and eco-design, were prioritised by the World Bicycle Industry Association (WBIA) at the 2024 Taipei Cycle Show.
