    India looks to align e-bike standard with global requirements

    LUDHIANA, India - India is in the midst of framing standards for e-bikes as it aspires to step-up its export to the EU market. But first, the domestic industry needs to gel the local standards to become compatible with European standards.

    India drafting standards for e-bikes as market develops rapidly

    LUDHIANA, India - The Bureau of Indian standards (BIS) is in the midst of drafting standards for electric power assisted cycles. Standards for electric bicycles are likely to take final shape in the next six months and be ready for implementation by the middle of 2024, industry insiders involved in drafting the standards have said.

    Tata subsidiary invests in R&D to enter European market

    LUDHIANA, India - Tata International bicycle subsidiary Stryder Cycles is planning to focus more on R&D to make bicycles for the international market. By upgrading its Ludhiana facility, the bicycle and e-bike maker hopes to entice more European customers and build on its growing domestic potential.

    With government support Indian bicycle sector eyes €5 billion value

    LUDHIANA, India - The size of the Indian bicycle industry is expected to increase 4 times by 2030, according to the vision document prepared by the All India Cycle Manufacturers Association. The industry is seeking government support to achieve this goal. Local producers are also keen on meeting the new European bicycle safety standards which are expected to be rolled out shortly.

    Hero Cycles eyes gateway to global e-bike market with Indian Cycle Valley

    LUDHIANA, India - India's Hero Cycles Limited is targeting the hi-end global bicycle and e-bike market from its newly built state-of-the-art site Hero E-Cycle Valley. Production began in 2021 at the ambitious project based at Hero Industrial Park (HIP) on the outskirts of Ludhiana. Here the company eventually aims to capture a sizeable share of the surging global bicycle and e-bike market.
