Velofollies thrives as Belgian market pivots into a plus

Belgium in January was the place to be this winter, and not just for the Benelux bicycle industry, but for the global market. Velofollies , beyond capitalising on the Eurobike implosion, is centred in a growing, mature market for both performance and mobility cycling. Although market data will not start trickling in across Europe for a couple of months, figures presented during Velofollies show that Belgium is starting the year on the back of a 7.7% increase in sales volume in 2025. With sales back in the plus and renewed optimism in the local market, it was almost impossible for Velofollies not to deliver this year.

From solid-state batteries to embedded AI: tech shifts that could redefine e-bikes

The next major leap for e-bikes won't come from motors or frames alone, but from smart technologies already well established in adjacent industries. That became clear last week at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas, where AI and automotive platforms dominated and robots roamed the aisles. Yet beneath that familiar surface, the show carried a message that is of profound importance to micromobility.

End of the Stefan Reisinger era as Eurobike brings in new leadership

FRANKFURT, Germany - The dissatisfaction within the industry about the recent edition of Eurobike and the German industry association's decision to pull out, has prompted the show to change its leadership. Long-serving show manager Stefan Reisinger is making an exit, and will support the new management during a transitional phase. Will this change mark a turnaround from the industry organisations? "It makes sense that the Eurobike will be completely revised by 2027, and negotiations could begin at the beginning of next year, provided that the necessary conditions are met," confirms Burkhard Stork, managing director of ZIV.

FRANKFURT, Germany - The introduction of MobiFuture last June at Eurobike was rather subdued and came as a surprise to many. It caused a big stir in the industry, making Fairnamic announce today: "key market participants see the need for further clarification of Mobifuture's concept and direction, which is why it will not be presented as a standalone trade show format in 2026."

FRANKFURT, Germany - Industry leaders have openly shared their opinions on the developments surrounding Eurobike with Bike Europe. Complaints about the show were already widely discussed during and after the last edition, but the future of the event came into full focus after the statement of the German industry bodies to pull out of Eurobike. For decades, the show seemed a fixed element in the industry calendar, but even Eurobike cannot escape the recent dramatic changes in the industry.

Eurobike doubts from German industry sends trade show landscape further adrift

FRANKFURT, Germany - The disruption in the international bicycle industry has also reached the trade show landscape. The Taichung Bike Week experienced its weakest edition in years this September. For over three decades, Eurobike has been the premier global platform for the German industry to showcase itself to the world. What the future holds is still uncertain.

Momentum slows as cargo bike industry navigates uneven growth

UTRECHT, the Netherlands - Cargo bikes are still regarded as pivotal in the transformation of urban logistics. Unlike the bicycle and e-bike industries, the cargo bike market is primarily business-to-business and new concepts are often developed in collaboration with B2B partners. While cargo bikes are displayed at the fringes of bicycle or logistics trade shows, the market remains highly promising.
