BRUSSELS, Belgium - In a joint statement CONEBI, CIE and ECF welcomed the recommendations made in the study on the e-bike and e-cargo bike sector. TRL (Transport Research Laboratory) carried out the study on behalf of the European Commission on the safety of Personal Mobility Devices (PMD).

Leader 96 Ltd has officially opened its new warehouse - designated for storage of e-bikes - on March 1st, 2021. The facility is situated near the city of Plovdiv, Bulgaria, next to Leader's second factory, that was completed in 2017. The new warehouse has total area of 4,600 square meters and can store up to 18,000 e-bikes.

OTTOBRUNN, Germany - With a brand relaunch, e-bike drivetrain maker Fazua GmbH is opening a new chapter to its newly launched 'Energy Bikes' umbrella. PONTEDERA, Italy - Italian two-wheeler supplier, Piaggio Group has joined forces with motorcycle and light electric vehicle (LEVs) giants Honda Motor Co, Yamaha Motor Co, and KTM, owned by Pierer Mobility and signed a letter of intent to set up a Swappable Batteries Consortium for motorcycles and LEVs. To enrich the expertise of the consortium, the founding quartet encourages all interested stakeholders to join the new cooperation.

MILAN, Italy - Italian e-bike manufacturer, Five Group, has started the delivery of e-bikes commissioned by the Italian Red Cross. The e-bikes are part of a project called 'Time for Kindness' to support people affected by the Covid-19 pandemic with sustainable deliveries of essential goods.

AMSTERDAM, the Netherlands - The e-bike is being massively embraced in the Netherlands and its market share continues to expand. In 2020 e-bike sales increased by no less than 30% to a record number of 547,000 units. In value the market has reached the all-time high of €1.65 billion.

MONTREAL, Canada - Dorel Industries Inc. announces boosting sales results for its Sports division (including Cannondale, Schwinn, GT, Mongoose, Pacific Cycles and Caloi) in 2020. For the year, Dorel Sports' revenue increased by $135.7 million, or 14.9%, to $1,045 million and a gross profit of $230 million.

JAKOBSTAD, Finland - Finnish bicycle component manufacturer Herrmans Bike Components, also reports exceptionally busy times on the back of the bike boom. In addition to this, the company is in the midst of a bigger organisational development and generational shift as it aims to strengthen its operations for years to come. FÜRTH, Germany - German Uvex Sports Group has acquired a majority stake in British Hiplok maker, Plus 8 Industries Limited. Uvex Sports Group will now add the Hiplok brand to its portfolio alongside its existing Alpina and Uvex brands, to "bundle competencies in the field of protective equipment and safety."

BRUSSELS, Belgium - Cycling Industries Europe (CIE) is launching a new expert group. The Cycling Innovation Network (CIN) is a membership-led initiative, open to companies of all sizes. The digital launch of the group will take place on 24th March.
