2020 and 2021 gave a push to cycling as never seen before. The industry gave everything to handle expanding demand despite supply chain constraints and booming transportation costs. Was this effort enough to keep the consumers engaged? 2022 will be the year in which it will become clear whether the bicycle and e-bike have really become the preferred urban mobility mode.

HO CHI MINH CITY, Vietnam - Taiwan's renowned bicycle frame builder Astro Tech Co., Ltd. celebrated the groundbreaking ceremony for its new production facility in Phu Chanh Industrial Park (north of Ho Chi Minh City) last Tuesday. Having produced for 24 years in Vietnam already, mass production in the new factory is scheduled to start in the fourth quarter of 2026.

For reshoring production and improving market flexibility by manufacturing in Europe instead of Asia, the central European countries have always played a key role. Although no country has taken a leading role, like Portugal, that does not mean that the region plays a secondary role within the industry. Several new facilities were started in recent years and existing ones upgraded their output quality.
