A newly-commissioned e-bike manufacturing facility in Plovdiv, Bulgaria, has been placed on the market following the insolvency of E-Velox, a company within the Leader 96 Group.

The Bulgarian bike sector is steadily developing these days despite the existing challenges and a serious overstocking in the local market. In fact, the industry and major local manufacturers have gone through an extremely dynamic and challenging period. After the euphoria of pandemic sales, the sector has faced supply chain disruptions, overstocking and macroeconomic headwinds. Despite the decline in sales volumes, the trend toward electric bicycles and micromobility offers some optimism, with the European market expected to double by 2030.

The new high-tech factory of Leader 96, which opened a year ago after an investment of over €10 million, is now fully operational. It has an annual production capacity exceeding 250,000 electric bicycles with a single shift working schedule. The facility has integrated eco-systems and follows a one-of-a-kind process organisation model, ensuring an agile and cost-effective workflow.

DAUN, Germany - Despite naming its relatively young e-bike brand HoheAcht after the region in Germany where it is based, bike supplier Technibike GmbH has decided to abandon its production facility in Staßfurt, Germany and move to Eastern Europe - more precisely Bulgaria.

The year 2022 has been a milestone for Leader 96 Ltd, one of the largest e-bike manufacturers in Eastern Europe, with over a quarter of a century of experience in production and distribution of bicycles, exporting to Belgium, Germany, the Netherlands, Italy, Sweden, and others. Rebranding, new factory and corporate acquisition are just a few examples of the changes that occurred in the last twelve months.

2022's edition of Eurobike is over but innovations are far from over for Leader 96. The event was an opportunity to present the company's new rebranded look and its modern collection of e-bikes. The spectacular design of the 120 square meter booth area, with integrated ride track and illuminated platforms, presented the last additions to the portfolio in 4 basic lines - MTB, CTB, Trekking, and Folding.
