'Vélovak 2019 will be an unprecedented edition'

'Vélovak 2019 will be an unprecedented edition'

The organisation of Vélovak, the number one bicycle trade show of the Benelux (22, 23 and 24 September), is working hard on the preparation of the upcoming edition. Vélovak has more than 80 exhibitors, resulting in a complete range of products and services for the bicycle shops of the Benelux.

A lot to discover at Vélovak

“At the previous edition we showed the market the great efficiency of the B2B platform Vélovak. Not only the bicycle shops noticed this, but several potential exhibitors also gave their confidence to Vélovak”, states Head of Event, Mascha de Bruin.

This year, visitors can also expect to see the companies such as ABUS August Bremicker Söhne KG, AGU, ANWB, International Mobility Group, KMC Chain Europe en Schwalbe Nederland B.V. at the trade show. Visitors can also discover the novelties of exhibitors such as Altena Bike, BOHLT, Cyklab / Close the gap, ICC, KYMCO E-Bikes, Novatech International, SKS Germany, Timyo cycle BV, Vaude Sport and Willex. Many new products and services will be presented at Vélovak 2019, for example the new multifunctional lock Safemen by BusyBee, the trendy children’s helmets by Polisport and Schroer’s software package Fietsdigitaal.

Scooters at Vélovak

This year’s edition also has a new segment: scooters and mopeds. Since there is no b2b event for this segment in the Netherlands, but the market is demanding one, AGM scooters, BTC scooters and PePe Parts have confirmed their participation at Vélovak. Rotterdam brand BOHLT will also present its new scooters. “It is a tough market, but the whole team is working hard on providing a range of products in this segment that is as complete as possible. Our aim is to help bicycle shops prepare for the new season”, explains Mascha de Bruin.

Novelties Vélovak 2019Tweewieler Knowledge Theater

“The organisation of Vélovak proudly works together again with trade magazine Tweewieler on the Tweewieler Knowledge Theater, to help retailers prepare for 2020 and to grow their businesses. There are many topics and entrepreneurial issues a retailer in the bicycle industry can respond to, such as ‘bikepacking’. Bikepacker and bicycle shop owner Bas Rotgans will discuss this topic every day. He will provide retailers tips and tricks on how to join the trend, which products you will need in your shop and how to advice customers. "He will also give several practical social media tips in his daily social media workshop”, says marketing coordinator Gerard van Muijden.

Another speaker is former cyclist and succesful product designer and CEO, Piet van de Velde. He designed products for Specialized, Trek, Rapha, Selle Italia, Selle San Marco, Batavus and Koga. During his sessions, he will explain the consumer’s decision making process and what moves the brand to develop the right product.

OOMT seminar

OOMT will host a seminar. They will discuss new technologies of the upcoming years, the opportunities these provide and what the customer demands are concerning them. Recently, distributor Juncker Bike Parts and specialist in fire safety cabinets Denios have confirmed their participation in the Tweewieler Knowledge Theater. Keep an eye on the Vélovak website for the latest updates!

Winning a title like 'Best bicycle mechanic' has a great value for your resume”

Vélovakman Award

The competition for the 'Best bicycle mechanic of the year' will take place again at this Vélovak. Earlier this year two preliminaries were held by main sponsor Juncker Bike Parts in Accell Group's experience center 'De Fietser' in Ede. During the battles, the contestants used the Unior Bike Tools only. The assignments were developed by training and development fund Tweewieler Academy. “Winning a title like this has a great value for your resume,” explains Danny van den Bor, trainer at Tweewieler Academy. On 22, 23 and 24 September everyone will discover who will be the #1 bicycle mechanic of the year 2019.
