    Halfords cycling sales bounce back with 9% revenue increase

    REDDITCH, England - Following a post-covid glut, cycling is again the "stand-out performer" for Halfords. In the first six months of the financial year, the UK retailer reports a 9% year-on-year revenue growth for its cycling products and services. With a strong first half, the company is on track to deliver its full-year expectations.

    M1 Sporttechnik's 2026 shutdown underscores insolvencies in German industry

    WEYARN, Germany - Fritzmeier Group has announced that after 14 years, both production and sales of its e-bike business M1 Sporttechnik will be discontinued on 30 April 2026.

    德國,豪森(HAUSEN)-YT Industries GmbH在主要投資者撤資後,於今年9月申請破產,也因此導致YT Industries USA關閉。2025年11月15日,新成立的Young Talent Industries GmbH在Hausen總部重新啟動,再次由創辦人Markus Flossmann領軍。不過,破產事件仍在台灣留下一筆龐大的未收帳款,且新公司未來的生產地點仍未確定。

    歐盟電動自行車進口量年減13%,中國超越台灣成最大供應國

    比利時,布魯塞爾(BRUSSELS)-市場及庫存問題持續延燒,根據歐盟統計局(Eurostat)最新數據顯示,今年前9個月,歐盟電動自行車進口總量較去年同期減少13%,進口額也同步下滑14%。今年Q3與2024年類似,中國再度超越台灣成為歐盟電動自行車最大供應國,不過雙方差距僅341輛,要論中國已主宰歐洲市場仍言之過早。

    ROSÀ, Italy - Italian bicycle parts and accessories manufacturer Ursus S.p.A. has acquired a majority stake in component manufacturer Saccon S.r.l. The transaction includes Sacconplast, the in-house division for high-quality "Made-in-Italy" plastic components. No details have been provided on the size of the majority stake acquired and the purchase price.

    "The results will be crushing": US industry reacts to proposed metal tariffs

    WASHINGTON D.C., United States - A renewed tariff battle threatens to deepen the fault lines in the United States bicycle industry as US President Donald Trump's administration weighs expanding steel and aluminium tariffs to include bicycle parts. Kids' bike manufacturer Guardian Bikes is lobbying hard for inclusion, positioning tariffs as a pathway to US manufacturing. But US trade association PeopleForBikes argues the resulting shockwave would accelerate the string of bankruptcies already rattling the industry.

    BRUSSELS, Belgium - The CONEBI and CIE merger has reached two important milestones this week, with the announcement of a new name and the election of the new board and president. The Confederation of the European Bicycle Industry (CONEBI) and Cycling Industries Europe (CIE) will be renamed as European Cycling Industries, as decided last weekend during an extraordinary general meeting.     Cargo bike industry weighs in on e-bike classification debate, challenges ZIV

    BRUSSELS, Belgium - In an open letter, European manufacturers, logistics companies, and cycling logistics operators have urged the European Commission to maintain the existing legal framework under EU Regulation 168/2013, including its application to cargo bikes. "Recent proposals by the German industry organisation ZIV to cap assistance ratios, peak power and vehicle weight would undermine real-world usability," the letter stated.

    WELS, Austria - The future of the last bicycle brand of Pierer Mobility has finally been clarified: the Austrians have sold their sports brand, Felt Bicycles, to its minority shareholders, Cesar Rojo and Florian Burguet. Pierer Mobility, which will soon be renamed Bajaj Mobility AG, is finally ending its unsuccessful involvement in the bicycle and e-bike sector.

    Taiwanese suppliers count up millions in losses amid YT Industries reboot

    HAUSEN, Germany - YT Industries GmbH filed for insolvency in September after its primary investor withdrew funding, a move that ultimately led to the shutdown of YT Industries USA. On Nov. 15, 2025, the newly founded Young Talent Industries GmbH rose out of the ashes and began operations at the Hausen headquarters, once again led by founder Markus Flossmann. But the insolvency also left significant invoices unpaid in Taiwan, and questions as to where the new company will manufacture remain unanswered.

    Subscribers only EU e-bike imports drop 13% while China breaks Taiwanese dominance

    BRUSSELS, Belgium - The ongoing market and inventory issues have seen the total number of e-bikes imported into the European Union drop 13% in the first nine months of this year, compared to the same period last year. Eurostat's latest data also shows a 14% decline in value. Similarly to 2024, in Q3, China has taken the top spot from Taiwan as the leading EU e-bike supplier. But with a difference of just 341 units, there can be no talk of Chinese dominance in Europe - yet.
