    European General Court withdraws anti-dumping duties for Giant Electric Vehicle Kunshan

    LUXEMBOURG - The anti-dumping case on e-bikes imported from China might enter an all-new chapter after the first level judgement of the European General Court. The court has annulled anti-dumping and countervailing duties implemented by the European Commission back in 2019 on e-bikes made in China by Giant Electric Vehicle Kunshan Co. Ltd.

    Bicycle industry organisations join forces on EU cycling manifesto

    BRUSSELS, Belgium - Industry organisations, European Cyclists' Federation (ECF), Cycling Industries Europe (CIE) and the Confederation of the European Bicycle Industry (CONEBI) have jointly released a manifesto with eight recommendations for how the EU, national governments and individuals can use cycling to lessen dependence on fossil fuels and achieve significant fuel savings.

    European start-up develops automated upcycling of e-bike battery cells

    LUXEMBOURG, Luxembourg - European cleantech start-up, Circu Li-ion is aiming to maximise the lifecycle of each lithium-ion cell by developing an upcycling process of battery cells on an industrial scale. With a 7-figure pre-seed investment on board the company's technology could see the carbon footprint and operating costs of e-bike batteries being reduced.

    Suzhou, China - E-bike drive system manufacturer, Bafang, has introduced its new M510 mid-motor, the successor to the M500. Designed to be stronger and lighter, the mid-motor is geared towards the e-MTB market. Due to in-house component sourcing, Bafang states that the motor has a delivery time of 60-90 days.

    MILANO, Italy - Following record bicycle and e-bike sales in 2020 where over 2 million units were sold, the market in Italy has stabilised in 2021. A total of 1,975,000 bicycles and e-bikes were sold in Italy last year, representing a 2% decline compared to the previous year. According to the latest data released by industry association, ANCMA, e-bikes continues to grow in both volume and market share.

    French retail group Cyclable raises €7 million

    PARIS, France - The French retail group Cyclable has raised €7 million from Calcium Capital. In addition, Roland Barthez, a long-time shareholder who joined the company in 2010, is reinvesting. This allows Cyclable to organise the exit of M Capital Partners and other historical shareholders.
