    Merida Q1 figures show bicycle producers continue to struggle

    Giant reports: China compensates for bike slump in the Europe and US

    TAICHUNG, Taiwan - In the first half of 2023 Taiwan's leading bicycle producer Giant Group generated a total consolidated revenue of TW$ 42.58 billion (€ 1.22 billion), a year-on-year decrease of 5.4%.

    Despite stable revenue Ideal Bike reports Q1 losses

    TAICHUNG, Taiwan - In its first sales quarter of 2023 Taiwan's third-largest bicycle producer Ideal Bike Corporation brought in total sales of TWD 1.11 billion (€33.46 million). This is a slight decrease of 1.8%, compared to the first three months of last year. However, losses were also incurred on these sales.

    France makes bike marking mandatory to protect against theft

    PARIS, France - To face the huge problem of bicycle theft in France, the French Government has, since January 1st, 2021, passed a law which imposes the mandatory marking of all new bikes sold in a store or on the Internet. This law will be extended to second-hand bikes sold in retail shops from July 1st.

    Giant starts production at Hungarian factory as European sales rise
